The grace of sincerely trying to see Him/Let the children rejoice in their King

Thinking of my brother, Jim, today on his birthday.  Thinking that it is a blessing to have St Pio on a person's birthday, too!

This picture from Memorial Day 2021 makes me want to go and visit mom and dad's resting place - especially knowing that we are exactly one month from when dad died...I think of dad a lot when I think about St Pio, because dad would always name the Pio Virtue for each decade of the rosary as we prayed together each day...

The Fifteen Virtues begged for with the 10 Hail Marys in each of the Fifteen Mysteries of  the Rosary

Our devotion is sometimes intensified if each decade is said for some particular intention. Such intentions are, of course, matter of private choice; but many will welcome the following suggestions. The first set is the Fifteen virtues while the second set of suggestions were given to us by Fr. Pere Monsabre, O.P., who for many years was the preacher at Notre Dame,  Paris, on all great occasions

JOYFUL MYSTERIES

1. The Annunciation- Wisdom

2. The Visitation- Fraternal Charity

3. The Birth of Christ- Poverty of Spirit (Detachment)

4. The Presentation in the Temple- Spirit of Self-Sacrifice (Renunciation)

5. The Finding in the Temple- Obedience

SORROWFUL MYSTERIES

1. The Agony in the Garden- Courage (Fortitude)

2. The Scourging at the Pillar- Temperance & Purity

Heaven's Weapon- The Rosary

God Reveals Plan to Save the World

"The greatest method of praying is the Rosary"- St. Francis de SalesSt. Thomas Aquinas preached 40 straight days in Rome on just the Hail Mary

"The Rosary is the scourge of the devil"- Pope Adrian VI

"The Rosary is a treasure of graces"- Pope Paul V

"The Rosary is THE Weapon"- Padre Pio

In the year 1214 while St. Dominic was trying to convert sinners without success, Our Lady appeared to him, gave him the Rosary and taught him how to use it. Many miraculous conversions resulted.

Ventimiglia, the author of an ancient history of the Carmelite Order, revealed how God inspired St. Dominic to prophesy that some day the Blessed Mother would give us two devotions to be known as the Rosary and the Brown Scapular, "And one day, through the Rosary and the Scapular she would save the world."

A Command from Heaven

St. Dominic told Pope Innocent III that he had received a command from Heaven to establish the Confraternity of the Most Holy Rosary. The Holy Father gave his full approval and became a member himself. Joining this Confraternity brings more indulgences than any other.

Wise words from St Pio
Totally the Lord's and the Lady's!
Lead me Lord and Lady!
My brother, Phil, in his restaurant close to where my parents lived for over 10 years together.  How I would love to be going by there to see my parents and stop in to give him a hard time!
Courage to face all that comes our ways!  Not me but my Lord and Lady use me to His Glory!

Love to see an Hallel Psalm of total praise today in mass readings!  Psalm 149

Responsorial Psalm 149:1b-2, 3-4, 5-6a and 9b

R.    (see 4a) The Lord takes delight in his people.
Sing to the LORD a new song
of praise in the assembly of the faithful.
Let Israel be glad in their maker,
let the children of Zion rejoice in their king.
R.    The Lord takes delight in his people.
Let them praise his name in the festive dance,
let them sing praise to him with timbrel and harp.
For the LORD loves his people,
and he adorns the lowly with victory.
R.    The Lord takes delight in his people.
Let the faithful exult in glory;
    let them sing for joy upon their couches;
Let the high praises of God be in their throats.
This is the glory of all his faithful. Alleluia.
R.    The Lord takes delight in his people.

A sure way to brighten our days and give us HOPE!

St Pio's own words today in The Magnificat!    In the Gospel today Herod is trying to figure out who Christ is - "trying to see him"

But Herod said, “John I beheaded.
Who then is this about whom I hear such things?”
And he kept trying to see him.  Luke 9

Here we see that if we truly are trying to see him sincerely that He will come and dwell in us and use us as his hands and feet, and voice sharing the Truth!
Oh daddy!!!  You bring so many smiles to me in the midst of the struggles all around me!  Each night we would end our evening prayer with this prayer that you memorized.  Once again your voice proclaiming The Truth is filling me with JOY!
Pope Benedict today with mom....  In matrimony "I do not belong to myself alone"  dying to self so that the Holy Spirit uses us to be open to LIFE and to raise LIGHTS!  Jesus, we trust in you.  Bless-bless, Barbara

"Prayer is the oxygen of the soul." St Padre Pio

"Kneel down and render the tribute
of your presence and devotion to Jesus
in the Blessed Sacrament.
Confide all your needs to Him,
along with those of others.
Speak to Him with filial abandonment,
give free rein to your heart,
and give Him complete freedom
to work in you as He thinks best."

St Padre Pio of Pietrelcino
Priest, Stigmatist, Mystic
Italy ~ 1887-1968
Patron of Eucharistic Adorers
Feast Day - Sept 23

"When I am close to Jesus
in the Blessed Sacrament, I feel as if
my heart is bursting out of my chest."
 St Padre Pio

O Blessed Rosary of Mary,
sweet Chain which binds us to God,
Bond of love which unites us to the Angels,
Tower of salvation against the assualts of hell,
safe Haven in the universal shipwreck,
we shall never abandon you.

Petition to Our Lady of the Rosary of Pompeii,
often recited by Padre Pio

Just Wow!  Talk about prayer without ceasing!
