Holy Thursday/The wind!!!!/Washing of the feet - so personal and humbling/Meow and bubble selfies with Tommy

Next week Tommy will be 5 months old!  As soon as mommy left to help the farmers - Tommy being in a good mood and soft kittens available by the 9s... Soon Tommy and Grandma were in the midst of selfies in front of the large front picture window on cold windy spring day!

Grandma got cropped out of most... but this little sweet soft face and that of the grey fuzzy kitten make me smile over and over again!

Cute faces, but the kittens turned away...
Kitten trapped between us worked, and must have felt interesting at the confused look on his little face.
"Oh my!  There is a soft animal next to my ear with his ear.  I think he is my friend, and we will soon be crawling around on the floor together."
Discovering that soft warm moving friend called kittens which will be part of his life every spring and a lot of falls on the farm.
"Something soft is sniffing in my ear!  Oh, that tickles a lot!"
I got a bit carried away, but between the faces Thomas was making and the constant movement of the kittens - it added up to a lot of funny and cute pictures...

I am sitting in my office today with the wind roaring like a freight train outside!  The cold and wind are supposed to be the whole Triduum - today through Easter Sunday.  My head is spinning with what we will do with 15 of our grandkids together on the farm in such unpleasant weather.  Cleaning out the shop just steps from the house so that they can ride bikes, and play together there.  There is a Bunny cake competition in the wind... Leaving it in the Lord's hands and trusting with some fake plans here and there!

Not sure what to think, but still adorable for the two of them.

Our family traditions begin with attending the Holy Thursday service this evening as a family.  When we had our nest years with our 5 children still at home - we would share The Triduum together starting tonight.  There were many years where we were involved in the foot washing for one reason or another.  I even remember one year where Pat washed our oldest, Ruth's feet, in the center aisle of church.

Foot washing is a powerful experience to have done to us as well as washing the feet of another!  To be on the receiving side is humbling and embarrassing - our feet are usually hidden from the world and we all think our own feet are ugly on many levels... right?  For the disciples of Jesus - they walked everywhere in sandals through the dirt!  Thier's were dirty, too!!!  Smell is another concern of our feet.  Wow!  It really is a difficult thing to allow others to do for us!

Trying to get a look at this small warm fuzzy squirming animal next to his cheek...

Yet, when it happens there is an element of how much that person cares for us, and a sense of being CLEAN!  Washed clean - Then he poured water into a basin
and began to wash the disciples’ feet
and dry them with the towel around his waist.
He came to Simon Peter, who said to him,
“Master, are you going to wash my feet?”
Jesus answered and said to him,
“What I am doing, you do not understand now,
but you will understand later.”
Peter said to him, “You will never wash my feet.”
Jesus answered him,
“Unless I wash you, you will have no inheritance with me.”
Simon Peter said to him,
“Master, then not only my feet, but my hands and head as well.”
Jesus said to him,
“Whoever has bathed has no need except to have his feet washed,
            for he is clean all over;
so you are clean..."  John 13

I have been on the part of the one washing the feet, too!  How does this compare?  I have a huge sense of showing the persons that I appreciate them and want to return the service they have given.  Allowing them to "see" the love and thankfulness I have for them - yes, LOVE!

Blowing bubbles and then tears when the kitten's claws got a little too close.  Soon with a dry diaper and his soft blanket he went to sleep and dreamt of his kitten friends soft and not quite so close!  In a short while he will be crawling after them and grabbing them.  No doubt!
Meanwhile in Fort Lewis, WA... 11 month old Maggie Rose is smiling for grandma from her bath with A Top Knot!  LOVE!

A prelook at Maggie in her Easter dress - grandma wanted an Easter Bonnet, but mom said a floral head band- at least a bow!?!
Easter Sunday 41 years ago!  Oldest Ruth is one and in her Easter Bonnet with her hunky dad!

Pat and I were just talking about how we love knowing that even though we are not all together that we are sure that we all are sharing The Triduum together!  Hallel in KCK in a Vigil that goes through the night, Maria and Joseph in Tacoma, WA, and Nancy and Bill in Delano, Ruth and John and Pat and I with their families here in Marshall!  United in our Faith/Family/Farm is our greatest JOY!
The famous Easter Hat and John falling down picture from Easter 30 years ago in Taylors Falls, MN - sharing our Easter with my wonderful parents that brought us into The Church 50 years ago!

My parents are very much on my heart with both of them dying in 2020 just 7months apart!  How I loved with all my heart - sharing the LOVE for The Catholic Church with them with no reservations at all!!!  We totally saw eye to eye and how they rejoiced with the journeys of our domestic Church/family!
Easter 4 years ago with the farm family!  Lots of fake plans for Easter Vigil with 21 of our family, out to share food and drink at 10:30p, Easter morning with tombs empty when the marshmallow melts, and then family fun with son-in-law, Billy's wonderful beef tenderloin cooking!  Yum!!!
Birdie Barbara last year - she is now talking and running and loving her cousin time on the farm!
Farmer Mary with her baby goats - today they crossed my mind in the first reading of the Passover - I will leave it there.  "Take from the sheep and the goats"  one year old not new baby kids!
The servers last year - much the same tonight for Mary!
What a haul 7 years ago in Kansas City with Hallel and The Community of the Lamb.  This year Hallel is here in Kansas, but they are going to be very busy with about 40 young adults sharing the Triduum with them.  WE must be patient and wait a week longer for her to come here to the farm for a 4 day home visit.
Bernadette and Rose Again 7 years ago in KCK!  Grandma loves to dress them alike still!  I say that this is why Hallel is comfortable dressing alike with 160+ Little Sisters!
I even had matching fabric with my girls!  Sigh... I was and continue to be a piece of work!

Ruth doesn't dress alike but she does love to match!  I love it too!!!  A masterpiece!
Crowns - Easter bonnets for princesses by Nancy!
St Mother Teresa of Calcutta!
Reminds me of the Little Sisters and begging from the poor.  "I have nothing but I can get you a glass of water."  LOVE!  Bless-bless, Barbara
Touch him in the Eucharist!
