Powerful day today in the Magnificat as it looks at the Priesthood... The institution of the Priesthood on Holy Thursday as the Lord shared the last supper with his disciples and with that the amazing gift of the Eucharist was given to us to sustain us from day to day. He started with St Peter and asked his chosen and called to carry on in His name... making the body and blood of Christ available to all those that believe! In the Priest's Litany of thanksgiving today... the responce to each is for each priest of the Catholic Church; Lord, you know that I love you.
For the miracle of being able to say, "This is my body."
For the wonder of the words, "I absolve you from your sins."
For the gift of holy celebacy.
For the presence of Jesus that radiates from my fatherhood.
For the love of Mary, Mother of priests.etc.
Truly the priests are bringing life into the world every day through the sacraifice of the mass. We need to pray so hard for vocations and young men to listen with their hearts to our Lord's call to carry on his life on earth... and say "yes".
It has been a day... enjoying the warm weather and because of it there is more and more to be done outside. But that is just where you want to be too. It was fun to put clothes on the line, and when I watched my grandkids for a while... Little Davey's blanket was on the line so we had to go out and linger for a while and get it off the line for nap time. He and Mary had great fun running back and forth under the blowing clothes in the warm breezes, and then taking a break to look at some ants working at an ant hill, and watch their mother cat running around joyfully in the nice warm day... She seemed in no hurry to get back to her kittens, but rolled in the warm dirt and climbed half way up the tree and back down... It was a good day to go over to the other farm to get bales too. Now to gather at the church as we start the tridium with the institution of the Eucharist or the Lord's supper... as I was saying the Luminous mysteries on my travels... I realized the wisdom of having those mysteries on Thursday.... It was on Holy Thursday that the Lord had the last supper which is the 5th decade! Now it all makes sense!
It will be especially powerful tonight as John and his grandma Verly have been asked to carry up the Holy Oils used for annointing the sick... it is so appropriate as John has been annointed 3 times in the last 9 months and since he is also cancer free and will continue to be... so many prayers and healing prayers with the whole church the day that he was annointed by Fr Paul and the relic of Solanus Casey was also put on his head with the accompanying prayer! Also bathing in the miracluous healing waters of Lourdes in France in August! They both feel a little unsure on their feet so they have asked Pat to walk up between them for stability! You had better believe that I will getting some pictures.
Thank you Lord for the deepness that you call us to.... May our hearts be filled with all the power and wisdom of these next three days in the Church. Thank you for the powerful blessing all the sacraments have been for us on this journey called cancer/healing. Jesus we trust in You! Bless-bless, Barb
