There is something about walking away pictures for me and when they are on a path laid out and into the LIGHT - they are extra special! And when there are a mess of grandkids in tie dye shirts - well, that is as good as it gets for me! The Gospel for today is the best... Matt 11: 28-30..."Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for yourselves. For my yoke is easy and my burden light." How can this be? It seems contrary to be set free and find rest by burdening ourselves with the YOKE OF CHRIST! Yet I loved the truth that I found in this statement by Brother Simeon in the meditation of the day..."This one Lord, Jesus, is offering to share with us the yoke of his own sonship, which is that of his gentle and lowly heart and which, as such, can impose only burdens deriving from the sweetness of Truth and LOVE." How true this is! Yes, Lord, I do feel the JOY of being yours alone, and seeing the world through the eyes of Faith! And I am blessed beyond words by the Truth I have found in your True Church!
The lighthouse of Mannistique is where we end our time in our beloved Michigan - it is a working lighthouse and the journey out there is most always in the evening after we have attended Saturday night mass. Another powerful symbol of Christ and his Bride, the Church, in this world! Jesus, I long to share your LIGHT with all those I come in contact with this day. That others may realize that the so called needs and wants we have in this world in the form of material, and social, and sexual, and on and on... are distractions from you, unless they are within you and from you! If we have you at the center of our lives, and the most important all-encompassing Truth in our lives - then all the rest will be in right order and not overtake us. And if from time to time, we lose our way and things become too important to us - the Truth will set us free and show us we need to come to reconcile with you in the sacraments and get things in right order once again! We thank you and praise you for the blessings we have with all we need to walk into the LIGHT through your glorious Church! We are filled with wonder and joy and all the other fruits of the Spirit... the burden is certainly light and the yoke easy! Thank you, Lord, for confounding the intelligence of the world with your Truth! Jesus, we trust in you... and proceed with dancing and great joy! Amen and Halleluia
