"All you who are thirsty, come to the water! You who have no money, come receive grain and eat; Come without paying and without cost, drink wine and milk!" Isaiah 55:1
Nancy just put some amazing pictures of her two on her blog - http://thegreatgusadventure.blogspot.com/ I can't borrow them like I used to.. so take the time to go there and see for yourself!
Looking at the scripture that St Ignatious used to guide and direct my dad and our entire family into His Church at such a crazy time... I am reminded of how Eucharistic it is! WE truly are unable of bring anything to Christ to pay Him for his goodness to us... He reaches for us with unconditional LOVE and forgiveness and gives us himself to eat and drink daily! Why was our time of entry a crazy time?... The sister that was doing my spiritual direction, in my thinking about becoming a religious sister, kept encouraging me to consider marriage, and suddenly she said to me - "Oh, by the way, I am leaving and getting married!" Can you imagine how that shocked me, and took the idea of becoming a nun clear out of my mind? I know now that the Holy Spirit used it to direct me to marriage - my true vocation - the Biggest Cross - My Most Cherished Cross. That reminds me of another story - St Theresa of Avila had a dream where Jesus showed her many Crosses in different shapes and sizes, and asked her to pick out one for herself. Being the great saint that she was - she chose the biggest one..."No, that it resereved for married people." So true!
It is so special to really come close to the work of the Spirit, and know that it is allowing us to come close to the Spiritual world that surrounds us, and guides, and directs us on our journey! I know that my dad was attuned with eyes and ears of Faith as he was baptized in the Holy Spirit, and that led him to the Truth! Today in the Gospel Jesus sends out his apostles to preach the Truth, and to drive out demons, and cure the sick. I see that my dad has done that for our family, and then for many as he was then called to the permanent deaconate in the Church! To sit at his feet yesterday, and to hear from him sharings about how the Lord continues to direct HIM in the Word, and through the LOVE communication of Prayer... I am feeling so blessed to have my dad here with me, and in a much better state than he has been for a very long time with the gradual loss of hearing! The Lord has truly touched him, and healed him through the marvels of modern medicine! Thank you, Lord, and the Veteran's hospitals and clinics!
My dad has certainly made his home in the "pulpit of the Cross", as St Catherine of Sienna writes to us today - "After the Holy Spirit had descended on them they mounted the pulpit of the blazing cross, where they felt and tasted the hunger of God's Son, his love for humankind. Then their words came forth as does a red-hot knife from a furnace, with its heat they pierced their listeners to the heart and cast out the devils. Since they lost themselves, they saw not themselves but only God's glory and honor and our salvation." Wow! This is so true for me - I have seen my dad in the pulpit of the Cross, and preaching the Truth with courage and strength. Some have become angered and hold great grudges - unforgiving towards my dad - after her stood by the Truth, but we in turn forgive them! Jesus, we pray for peace and forgiveness!
Bless-bless, Barb
"So,... I beg you - it is my will in Christ Jesus - make your home in the pulpit of the Cross. There be engulfed, lose yourself completely, with insatiable desire. Draw the red-hot knife and strike the devils, seen and unseen, who want continually to disturb your conscience by nipping people's fruit in the bud. Don't give in to this wicked devil - especially now, when it is time for harvesting and sowing. Tell the devil to deal with me instead of with you! Forward then, courageously!"
St Catherine of Siena
I don't know about you. But she has inspired me to call upon her from heaven to help me in the battle against Satan and all evil! She sounds like a true champion in the great battle!!! St Catherine of Siena, pray for us and intercede for us.. along with St Ignatious of Loyola, who brought us into Your Glorious True Church!
