The Saint for today worked with the native Americans... so it is really cool to find pictures of Blessed John Paul II back in 1984 with Native Americans - here he is meeting with Huron Indians probably in Canada!

I would imagine that this was the same time as he looks about the same age and is coming out of a teepee! This is pretty cool today as the saint for the day worked with the Natives back in the 1800s! My daughter, Nancy, who is here now also has quite a history working with American Indians - both at college in Bismarck and also working about 3 years at an American Indian alternative school! It is really a native kind of day it seems, and a reminder of the people that are the heritage of our country. We need to remember their plight of struggles with alcoholism. We need to see Christ in the native culture. To see Blessed John Paul with the Native people - loving and accepting is a powerful image for me! Lord, help me to LOVE as you call us to be unconditionally Loving and accepting. Jesus, hold this culture in the palm of your hand. Jesus, we trust in YOU. Bless-bless, Barbara Luke
Gus coloring with his kitty Herbie watching him.
Dave in his leaf pile that he raked yesterday at the party!
Bernadette in the bubble sink first, then...
Gus got into one too! Note the bubble beard! They have definitely gone native around here tonight while dad was watching the bubble craziness on facetime! It makes the miles kind of fade away.
The heifers sure looked special basking in the sun yesterday in the pasture by the house! It is special to have animals sharing our farm life with us! Lots to be thankful for.
