With only minutes to share this morning instead of my usual hour - I am given the topic that covers them all in my book of LIFE - Family and to top it off the role model of all - The Holy Family - Joseph, Mary and Jesus! I had a very real and true reason for naming my blog - Familysoulstory! After just coming through John's brain cancer, which brought our family physically together to face it all surrounded by all the prayers from endless prayer warriors. Family was once again the most beautiful element of LIFE only second to Faith and for us on the Farm where it is more than a job but a way of LIFE - the blended form of Faith/Family/Farm is a very powerful and wonderful Word holding all meaning for me!
Today looking to the Holy Family we wonder how we can find that holiness in our own homes? How we long to have a holy happy healthy family! There is one very real way of doing this - follow the dogmas of the Church laid out to help us get to heaven and to live holy lives. Yes, it is not the easy way, but it is the way down the narrow path carrying our Most Cherished Cross. This is what Jesus asks of us and tells us if we are to be followers of HIS - we are to follow HIM and His example! What does the Church tell us? To be open to LIFE, and isn't that what happens to us if we willingly embrace our Cross? Dying to self and giving our all - we become parents to more and more children, and with each addition our love grows larger - not stretched more thin! Hopefully the material stuff becomes less as the siblings become more! We share our Faith in our homes! We found that sharing the amazing lives of the Saints in our home was something the kids loved and taught us that no matter what we face that we can persevere! Prayer shared is so important on the journey to a Holy happy family!
The only one missing is Hallel and her prayers for her family allow us to go forth into our call of LIFE/LOVE/LIGHT! Jesus, we look to your Holy Family this day and forward. May Joseph, Mary and Jesus intercede in all families and show them how they can die to self and give without counting the cost. Hallel's family/community's motto they live by - "Wounded I will not cease to LOVE." May we take this to heart and go forth down the narrow path carrying our Most Cherished Cross. Jesus, we trust in YOU. Amen and Hallelujah
Bless-bless, Barbara Luke
