The blossoming of LOVE

Sweet little Rose just turned 19 months as her new brother, Luke, was one month!  Pat was saying this morning her name over and over as he worked on the fire on a frigid cold winter morning.  "Do you remember how she didn't like grandpa at all and she would cry and cry when I tried to hold her?  Now she is so sweet and loving and just smiles and gives me kisses!"  It really makes it that much more wonderful... when we felt so sad at her acting like she didn't know us and therefore didn't think that she wanted us holding her... when she was a baby - it truly hurt to have her not happy to be around us!  But with that as her first reactions to us - that makes is that much more special to have her come running to us and wanting to come home with us and give us hugs and kisses and smiles.  It is like those affections are much more megawatt coming from a darker colder start!  This is so true of the ups and downs of LIFE - if something comes the hard way than we find the happy ending that much more uplifting and wonderful!
This postcard arrived from Hallel in Marseille, France yesterday, and she wrote that this picture is what their area of France is like.  I put it in front of the frigid winter scene outside the window to show the two different worlds we are living in right now.  I think of the shock it will be in less than a week when Maria and her three fly here from El Paso, TX!  Flying here they will have to borrow from Ruth all the winter clothes for her kids, and there is not much doubt that the snow will be a draw for the kids.  It can be fun for kids if they are properly dressed and come in to warm up with the cup of hot chocolate and the Christmas cookies!  I am sure that the Belgian cookie iron will be putting out the wonderful sweet circles of butter and sugar from Pat's heritage - almost fast enough to keep for the grabbing hands of the little ones!  How we are longing for gathering together - minus the stomach bugs that Nancy is struggling with now at her house, and with roads that we can easily travel to the places we need to get to.  Hear our prayer, O LORD!
With the wonderful Gospel for today of the two blind men, who were healed and given sight.. it is like Rose could "see" the Truth that we are loving grandparents, who only want to cherish her and LOVE her and pray for her, were worthy of her Trust and love in return!  A beautiful LIGHT came on and flooded our lives with LOVE!  As Hallel wrote in her postcard - "I am thankful for my wonderful family that continues to grow, and for the Lord who is always ready to forgive us.  Amen!"  The blind men discovered the LORD and his forgiveness and received the sight that they begged Him for!
The beautiful handstitched Christmas stockings that her mommy made for each of the kids...
Now mommy is working hard and with great passion on little Luke's special socking!
Jesus, life is an opening up of a flower in a blossom of LOVE!  We are filled with such wonder and awe as we watch the unfolding of "sight" - the realization that we are loved and cared for by those in our lives, and that we rely on their care and prayers to get us down the narrow path of LIFE/LOVE/LIGHT!  "When his children see the work of my hands in their midst..."  Isaiah 29 - from the first reading today.  Good old Isaiah - the Advent Prophet!  May we all remember from this day and forward, that you are loving and forgiving although we do nothing to deserve it!  May we "see as You see," O LORD!  May we show the same Mercy that we have been shown to those in our lives/family/domestic Church.  Jesus, we trust in YOU.  Amen and Hallelujah
Bless-bless, Barbara Luke
"Prompted by the Holy Spirit, the soul begins to see as he sees, to judge as he judges, to love as he loves.  He is the Master within: the soul, so to speak, of the soul, the high radiance revealing the passing things of earth in their true light, so much so that the soul chooses the eternal realities...  In this heavenly LIGHT, the soul recognizes the divine Guide who leads her unfailingly to her true home."  Dom Augustin Guillerand (1945) speaking to... To See As He Sees

Therese with her special Godfather, Fr Mathias!  She is very blessed to have a Godmother, who is a sister, her aunt, Little Sister Hallel.  And her Godfather is a priest.  I think that she will definitely know that considering a call to religious LIFE is a most wonderful option in LIFE!
