Life living is a prayer

As I sit here waiting for my 3rd canner of pie filling to process - I look upon my grandson, Dominic, sleeping in the swing and beyond him through the patio doors the glorious bright sun upon the golden leaves on the trees in the grove beside our house.  I just took little 11 month old Luke to get some time in the tractor buckled in the seat beside grandpa.  He is very low on the totem pole - with only 2 other grandsons younger than him out of the 12 grandchildren.  So when grandpa took out Bernadette this morning, and Luke crawled over to tell grandpa he wanted a turn... well, it was kind of sad...  but there were about 3 ahead of him.  So when Ruth just dropped him off alone and Nancy's 3 are sleeping - Luke got his turn!!!!
Luke helping pick apples.. actually he was eating an apple that was still hanging on the tree!
Today we did a morning job of making pie filling - 32 quarts - if you count the pie filling that the kids just ate with their lunch or made into their lunch.  There is that much more to make in the next day or so or week or so, but for today this was about right.
Our orphan kitten, Captain Jack Corner, came out for some fresh air and the girls shared him sweetly in the sunshine
Rose thought he should go back in the house, but she protected him well...
Lilly was very interested in this bunch, but most especially that furry grey kitten.  The kids were Captain's protectors.
Grandma was too busy taking pictures, and missed most of the apple picking by their mommies!  I think I had the harder job...
Grandpa came to drop off Gus - he wanted to play in the dirt pile with Rose - and Berna learned how fun it is to farm strapped in her seat in the new loader tractor.  Now Gus is going to have competition to farm with grandpa.
Ruth and Luke start the corer peeler of 2 pails of apples we did today...  Aunt Raterra stopped off for tomato picking and ended up on the apple peeler for a while.

Why am I giving you all these details of our day here?  Because it was such a superb day filled with the best of weather, babies and baby animals for photo ops galore, two of my girls home loving the farm and helping with this big canning project, the farmers working with the job of hauling manure - so both my husband and Ruth's here for lunch and taking the kids along in the little seat designed just for them - "You put that seatbelt around them and they sit there so nice with me." says grandpa with a big smile.  Now even Luke is getting his special time with grandpa!  It all adds up to a small slice of Heaven/the kingdom has come here on earth!
Today in the Gospel Jesus teaches us how to pray - The Lord's Prayer.  This day has been so wonderful yet filled with hard work and I find myself with aching feet and tired... I find that I would love to have each day filled with the happiness and sharing of LIFE/LOVE/LIGHT that this day has had... it truly is an answer to all the prayers of our lives.  How many times each day do I repeat The Our Father prayer?  At least 6 times beginning with morning prayer with Pat and John before John goes to work - holding hands and sharing it with great thought given to the prayer we are sharing!
A sweet baby to kiss adds to the wonder of this day!  Thank you, Lord!
Luke with his friend, Captain Jack Corner, make for some specialness...
" Father, hallowed be your name, your Kingdom come.
Give us each day our daily bread
and forgive us our sins for we ourselves forgive everyone in debt to us, and do not subject us to the final test."  Luke 11: 1-4
Augustine ate 2 bowls of grandma's pie filling - "It's really good!"
Lord, thank you for this small slice of heaven here on earth.  May we always put you first and never count the cost of giving to those around us.  I am wanting to put my feet up with my rosary now for a bit, so I will end this for now.  Jesus, we trust in YOU.  Amen and Hallelujah
Berna in her mommy's shoes before we started our big job... Bless-bless, Barbara Luke

"You have received a spirit of adoption as sons through which we cry:  Abba! Father!"

Rose the keeper of the kitty... Roger isn't so sure about that!
Peter Mayer - Holy Now
God's not dead - Newsboys
