An angel that daughter, Maria, stenciled on my front window probably 20 years ago still graces us with her excitement and wonder at the world outside.. this morning to snow coming down, and the heifers in the pasture in front of the house close to my Mary garden as if knowing she is the Mother of Heaven and Earth!
Reading the Gospel the night before with Pat as we shared evening prayer and always the Gospel for the next day is shared with great excitement. What will we hear in our hearts this day? Jesus speaks to us in Luke 17 about forgiveness - "If he wrongs you 7 times in one day and returns to you 7 times saying, 'I am sorry,' you should forgive him.' " That is hard to do even one time, but over and over, and what if they don't say they are sorry? We need to still be forgiving and show them the mercy we have been shown... so hard, but so necessary to go forward to LOVE and serve those in our domestic Church/family as we are called to!
My husband, Patrick/my Most Cherished Cross doing business on the phone as he watches the heifers grazing in the front pasture and the snow coming down.
Jesus is also asked to "increase our faith." He points out how little faith is required of us to deal with all in our lives - "Faith the size of a mustard seed." Lord, help us to have enough Faith to go forward into all that we deal with this day. We get a hint of how to accomplish this in the Psalm from mass today - Psalm 24
Who can ascend the mountain of the Lord?
Or who can stand in his holy place?
He whose hands are sinless, whose heart is clean,
who desires not what is vain.
Lord, this is the people that longs to see your face.
The angel joins Pat in pondering the sight of our farm world
How do we keep our hands without sin, and our heart clean? By frequent use of the sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist, by looking to the intercession of The Saints - today St Leo is reminded to us as being there for our backs, by the help of our Spiritual Mother, Mary the Mother of God, and all the help of His Bride, The Church, there for us to help us to get to Heaven/Eternal LIFE, The Kingdom of God! We have so much help! We are never alone!
Our orphan kitten that is in the house away from the storm, and laying close to my prayer shawl gifted me during John's battle against brain cancer.
Jesus, I am so thankful for the words from Our Lord to me this day that I need to forgive without end! Give me the strength I need to step past my feelings of hurt, and to love without counting the cost. The words of our dear Community of the Lamb ring in me - "Wounded, I will not cease to LOVE." The Lamb is who we look to as we see how by being meek and lowly as a Lamb, Jesus faced suffering and death for our salvation. May we take advantage of all the ways we have to continue of that path with all The Church gives us. Jesus, we trust in YOU. Amen and Hallelujah
Bless-bless, Barbara Luke
Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will refresh you. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is pleasant and my burden light. Nothing, then poses any difficulty for the humble, dearly beloved, or any harshness for the gentle. All commandments are easy to carry out when grace provides help and obedience softens authority." St Leo the Great (461)
Son-in-law, Paul, heading out to rip his field in the snow.
Daughter, Ruth, with her two little ones Rose and Luke came to help me feed the men working on our new shop - Rose found the drawer with the canning rings and made herself a beautiful bracelet just like her mom did over 30 years ago!
The gift of stepping back in time and the warmth of happy memories washing over me!
Putting them away til next time...
Tis the season for filling the last jars with applesauce and making pies from all the pumpkins and squash this year!
The sun getting low in the sky so early these days as we brought the cows home from the pasture/corn field across the road ahead of the storm. Now they are all in the yard safe and sound.
I just have to share this recent picture of Romeo in Texas! So good to see him growing so alert and filled with LIFE even only from pictures!

The three older ones in Texas - Therese, David and Patrick.. it has cooled down there, but here they would actually have snow to play in today. Therese still can go out in flip-flops!

Next I borrowed a picture from my oldest daughter, Ruth's, blog... her 5 at Luke's first birthday a week ago on All Saints Day - November 1st. She has a wonderful blog promoting the farm and family - http://familyfarmexperience.blogspot.com/
A song for vocations by Danielle Rose - Pursue me, Lord
Danielle Rose - Nothing compares to you
Danielle Rose - Wonderfully made - Psalm 139
This young Catholic woman writes all her music in front of Jesus in the Adoration.

One last picture I am borrowing today of John and girlfriend, Amy, in Wisconsin over the weekend in front of a maple stand, where her uncles harvest maple syrup each spring. So fun to expand our horizons!
