Baking has been so big for me and the kids and for Pat to enjoy here on the farm! This is the 4 girls with the potato bread dough I used to make weekly... they have filled it with pie filling/Easter bread years back.
Pies have become very much what I make often, ever since I was given a pie crust recipe that works for me every time! Today I made 4 pumpkin pies. The thing about pumpkin pies is that they are full of pumpkin/squash, milk and eggs. Ruth is supplying me with eggs now fresh from her chickens, and I am baking up pumpkins from my garden - 3-4 at a time brought in the house frozen from outside. I have many more to bake and pies to make about twice a week right now. I just got an order from Nancy to bring some up to Nancy's for Bernadette's birthday party on Saturday, so I might be making more tomorrow.
Canning day has come to an end for this year, although just last week I picked and canned all my jars full of applesauce. Sharing canning as a family, including Pat, is a great time for us pulling together to make food for 6 families now. The work is hard, and a relief to have it behind us for another year. We are all ready to get into the slower more peaceful winter mode around here, The woodstove is giving off warmth and applesauce with supper and pumpkin pie for dessert blesses us with all that we love on the farm. Bless-bless, Barb
The Pat and Barb Verly family and their 5 children, in laws and grandkids along with many prayer warriors have been drawn together by John's cancer... sharing daily for 8 months started this blog- Family Soul Story - Our faith, family, farm and now our cancer journey called HEALING have colored and deepened our world. WE continue to share and depend on the support of our prayer warrior community, that has lowered us into the Lord's presence for His healing!
