For us it is going to be a different Christmas Camp as we are introducing John's girlfriend to many of our family, but most of all she will see firsthand the huge wonderful crazy gathering of the Crosses (my maiden name) called Cross Christmas Camp! Each year is different and exciting as we grow and grow and grow - we have now passed the 100 mark with 3 new great-grandsons and a great-granddaughter since last camp. The gift exchange is all about the little ones as they each give a gift to one another, and only stop when they graduate high school! We are talking 6 grandchildren only left in school, and 32 great-grands!!! So many wonderful little ones to get to hold and meet and get to know as they come newly into the family or just grow and change with each new year!
The table is filling with all we need to take along, and the list is being checked over and over and the "Oh, I can't forget this or that!" is filling our morning. We were sharing this morning that this is a high point of the year! "There are two things that I would say our kids and grandkids say are the high point of their year...Michigan and Christmas Camp." said Pat and John. How I am amazed that my parents had these plans years ago and now they are a beloved tradition! This year will be different with my parents staying at home at night, and only coming for "the party" on Saturday. Mom has been struggling with bronchitis, and they warn us that we had better prepare for changes as they age and all that comes with that. I am praying for healing and strength for my mom, and am just grateful that they are still here with us!
John brought tears to my eyes at prayer this morning as he prayed with thanksgiving for the nieces and nephews - naming their sweet loving characteristics. So many blessings - soon we will be united with Maria and her family as they just left an amazing night with the Community of the Lamb in KC and are heading towards CCC!
Jesus, thank you for the great roads for traveling and keep the illnesses away from our gathering. Bless all families with your LOVE/LIGHT/LIFE as they gather to celebrate the coming of Jesus, Our Savior and Way, Truth and LIFE! Jesus, we trust in YOU. Amen and Hallelujah
Bless-bless, Barbara Luke
I will be away from the computer for the next days.
The Pat and Barb Verly family and their 5 children, in laws and grandkids along with many prayer warriors have been drawn together by John's cancer... sharing daily for 8 months started this blog- Family Soul Story - Our faith, family, farm and now our cancer journey called HEALING have colored and deepened our world. WE continue to share and depend on the support of our prayer warrior community, that has lowered us into the Lord's presence for His healing!
