Light of St Lucy/Family/Farm/Friends/Windy Southwest MN!

John's girlfriend, Amy, is here to share some time on the farm and learn to make Belgian cookies!  I am very grateful that she is getting me motivated to make the cookies of Pat's heritage and that we all love in our family.  The dough is cooled in the fridge and soon we will be rolling balls and cooking them in the electric waffle iron.  The first years of our marriage Pat would sit at the stove making 2 at a time, and they were truly precious indeed after all that work!  Their size and shape and crispiness makes them a lot like chips, so eating them too fast is a fault that is hard to correct.
I think you can tell that I followed them as they headed out to help Pat with the cows and calves... we had to see the sealed floor in the new shop and get some silly posed pictures too!

It is the feast of St Lucy, her name is taken from the Latin word for LIGHT, and there are Lucys we are thinking of today in our family... Pat's grandmother Lucy Verly, who died before Pat was born, and our Little Sister Lucy in Kansas City!  It is so wonderful to know those named after great Saints and that they are celebrating whether in Heaven with Saint Lucy or here on earth surrounded by her Community of the Lamb and prayers of those that know and love her!  It is such a beautiful and great Family name that I would not be surprised to have a granddaughter, Lucy, some one of these days!
Amy was pretty proud of these choppers that John found her to wear for mittens today.  It is actually quite warm out, but that huge wind is howling making it hard to walk against - it is so strong.  Amy certainly has gotten treated to the winds of the prairie/Southwest Minnesota!  I remember coming down here and absolutely amazed by how horrific the winds were.  "How can people live and work in this?" I thought. And it is interesting to hear Pat say that the older he gets the harder the wind is on him.  Most especially in the winter on a tractor with no cab!

Athough St Lucy was martyred in the early 300s, she continues to be a most beloved Saint, who is asked to intercede for those with eye conditions.  I would say that all of us suffer from this whether it be our actual sight or the eyes of Faith!  Don't we all need to be healed and helped to see what is Truth in this world of darkness and deceit?    St Lucy bring LIGHT into our lives, hearts, minds, souls, homes, jobs, families, Churches, world!
Having fun with the camera...  Well, the house will soon fill up with Ruth and kids here to play in the shop with bikes and to help make/eat Belgian cookies with Amy!  We are all wearing rubber boots out there as the mud has replaced the snow.  It is nice to have warm weather and a brown winter now, but the mud and wind extraordinare takes some of the fun out of it.  My clean house will take a toll, but it is cleaned one again without too much trouble.

Jesus, The LIGHT is bright in Heaven this day with all the celebration for St Lucy!  May that LIGHT spill over into our lives here on earth and allow us to ever walk down Your narrow Path to LIFE/LOVE/LIGHT!  "Illumine our darkness with the Light of Faith, that we may look with eager hope toward your coming Kingdome, through Jesus Christ our Lord." see www.magnificat.com morning prayer  Jesus, we trust in YOU.  Amen and Hallelujah
Bless-bless, Barbara Luke
