All the times we say "Saint" today thanks to St Patrick!/May he chase the snakes out of our hearts!/Joy Tea Party

Joy and grandma had a sweet tea party before we went to gather up her 5 siblings from school.  Mommy even got out the St Patrick's shamrock plates that they had found at the Thrift store a few days ago... how Ruth loves her dishes and to set a special table.  They found this tea set second hand a few months ago - apple tea pot, sugar bowl and creamer.  Many special tea parties of memory with kids and grandkids over the years - so sweet, fun and special!

1986 tea party on our little porch in our first home.  Nancy, Maria and Susan/Little Sister Hallel and their much used tea set!  Looks like we had made cookies for the occasion.  A cherished memory that makes me feel warm and happy inside as it represents the "nest years" of our married life.

Yes, there were many losses in the midst of our 5 children - 7 losses, but sharing that pain made us value and love each other so deeply.  We love ALL LIFE!

Grandma's cup of tea... the cups and saucers they found in the thrift store at the same time they got the tea set.  Joy didn't invite her two imaginary friends this time, but often she and mom will bake in the morning together for them as they seem to have birthdays daily.

A big smile to express her JOY!

The evening of my mom's passing a year ago... into the arms of Jesus!
A picture from 7 years ago of our farm family celebrating St Patrick's Day... they have since added Joy to their family, and she will soon be 4!  This is now their home on the farm!  How we love to have a young family living the farm life and all it takes!

Ruth is getting day old chicks today, and her and her dad are finishing their chicken house and moving out the laying hens from the heated shop where they have been all winter.  Mary thinks that her goats could start kidding next week and we are having calves... we had our second set of twins last night, and they are healthy!

Another person that welcomed my mother with open arms was my sister, Mary!  We were comforted knowing that Mary, who died in 1986 from cancer, and whose birthday is on St Patrick's Day... was celebrating with mom last year the day after mom died in a day.  This year dad had joined them!  Along with St Patrick himself!

Pat and I had a sobering discussion this morning about the reaction of the world to Pope Francis' proclamation that the Church will not bless same sex unions or marriages.  What did they expect?  The Bible and The Church behind it says clearly that this is a sin and not what man and woman were created to act out.

Then the sweet reality crossed my mind that thanks to St Patrick - the word "Saint" is used by ALL in and out of the "world"!  It has become a household word for this day of celebration, and St Patrick was an amazing man for bringing the Truth to LIGHT for those that did not know Jesus!  He also is my hero as he chased all the snakes out of Ireland!  My prayer to this man of Faith - "St Patrick, chase the snakes out of our hearts!  May this world come back to morality!"

Patrick was a humble, pious, gentle man, whose love and total devotion to and trust in God should be a shining example to each of us. So complete was his trust in God, and of the importance of his mission, he feared nothing -not even death.

“Christ be within me, Christ behind me, Christ before me, Christ beside me, Christ to win me, Christ to comfort and restore me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me, Christ inquired, Christ in danger, Christ in hearts of all that love me, Christ in mouth of friend and stranger."

Happy Feast Day
Saint Patrick
390 - 460
Feast Day: March 17
Patronage: Ireland, engineers, paralegals. Invoked against snakes, sins, and witchcraft.
Patrick was born in Scotland. As a boy of fourteen or so, he was captured during a raiding party and taken to Ireland as a slave to tend sheep. During his captivity, he turned to God. Patrick's captivity lasted until he was twenty when he escaped after having a dream from God in which he was told to leave Ireland. Patrick was ordained a priest and eventually a bishop and returned to Ireland where he preached the gospel for over 40 years converting many.

St. Patrick, pray for us!
Feast Day: March 17th

St. Patrick's Breastplate

I arise today
Through a mighty strength, the invocation of the Trinity,
Through belief in the Threeness,
Through confession of the Oneness
of the Creator of creation.
I arise today
Through the strength of Christ's birth with His baptism,
Through the strength of His crucifixion with His burial,
Through the strength of His resurrection with His ascension,
Through the strength of His descent for the judgment of doom.
I arise today
Through the strength of the love of cherubim,
In the obedience of angels,
In the service of archangels,
In the hope of resurrection to meet with reward,
In the prayers of patriarchs,
In the predictions of prophets,
In the preaching of apostles,
In the faith of confessors,
In the innocence of holy virgins,
In the deeds of righteous men.
I arise today, through
The strength of heaven,
The light of the sun,
The radiance of the moon,
The splendor of fire,
The speed of lightning,
The swiftness of wind,
The depth of the sea,
The stability of the earth,
The firmness of rock.
I arise today, through
God's strength to pilot me,
God's might to uphold me,
God's wisdom to guide me,
God's eye to look before me,
God's ear to hear me,
God's word to speak for me,
God's hand to guard me,
God's shield to protect me,
God's host to save me
From snares of devils,
From temptation of vices,
From everyone who shall wish me ill,
afar and near.
I summon today
All these powers between me and those evils,
Against every cruel and merciless power
that may oppose my body and soul,
Against incantations of false prophets,
Against black laws of pagandom,
Against false laws of heretics,
Against craft of idolatry,
Against spells of witches and smiths and wizards,
Against every knowledge that corrupts man's body and soul;
Christ to shield me today
Against poison, against burning,
Against drowning, against wounding,
So that there may come to me an abundance of reward.
Christ with me,
Christ before me,
Christ behind me,
Christ in me,
Christ beneath me,
Christ above me,
Christ on my right,
Christ on my left,
Christ when I lie down,
Christ when I sit down,
Christ when I arise,
Christ in the heart of every man who thinks of me,
Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of me,
Christ in every eye that sees me,
Christ in every ear that hears me.
I arise today
Through a mighty strength, the invocation of the Trinity,
Through belief in the Threeness,
Through confession of the Oneness
of the Creator of creation.
A snowy world once again!  How we pray for our calving and protection of the baby calves as we do the work to feed the world!

As for most days since coming into The Church 50 years ago... I am bursting with way too much to share here, but foolishly I want to share it all!!!  My  husband Patrick led the way for many Patricks down the line in our domestic Church/family!  Starting with our only son, John Patrick, and our oldest grandchild, Simon Patrick, grandson, Patrick Joseph, the miracle we rejoice over every day but most especially today on his feast day, and Dominic Patrick, who is one of our 6 year olds.

Green pancakes for my hubby - Patrick to celebrate his feast day!
Krusties pancakes take me back to our first time in France for Hallel's taking of her habit and changing her name after John's second chemo for brain cancer!  My cup overflows!

In France with Little Sister Hallel and John August 2009!
At Patrick himself speaking to us in The Office of the Readings - dad shared this with me in his well worn prayer book - his first St Patrick's Day in heaven with mom, and Mary and St Patrick and ALL the Saints!
"The gift of knowing and loving God" St Patrick to us!
St Patrick may you bring believers from the East and the West!
Mom and Mary today!
Now dad has joined them too, and I delight in all that mom and dad share with me each day from the prayer books they left behind for me!  I am blessed with 7 different meditational books to be lifted up by each morning.  When I mention that there is too much for me to share... it is not stretching it.  More than I can ever express properly here.  I am overwhelmed by your LOVE, O Lord!
Mary and I in our green coveralls in 1982 when she lived with us to help me while on bedrest for my 2nd pregnancy - we are both city girls, and she fell in love with the farm and then found her farmer, Gerry!  They had a little girl, Audrey, and when she was 20months Mary died from cancer!

Yes, we have corn dust on our noses as we are in the shed filling pails with ground corn for the milk cows!  Family Soul Story - Choose Life!: Our marriage stories - "The world needs LIGHTS!"

It seems that my mother's art work is all around me... this was her painting of baby Mary.   It feels right to have it by mom today as they are united in heaven.   A year ago I would envision mom and Mary walking through a beautiful garden in full bloom and all of their special dogs leaping about them with great abandon.  Mom and Mary loved big dogs , and mom always had a gorgeous garden at her homes!  That was the vision of heaven that comforted me and gave me endless JOY with the quick loss of my mother in a day.  I need to rekindle that happy reflection now with dad!
Ruth with cow TV and her crocheting...
Mom and Mary at the feet of Jesus, Mary and Joseph.  One of mother's glass birds, which she had a collection of on a ring from around the Lamb that Hallel wears around her neck since her final vows!  On it is written the motto of The Community of the Lamb - "Wounded, I will never cease to love."  What we are called to do as we drag our Most Cherished Cross down the narrow path!
Never too many!

Jesus, your Saints are at work in this messed up amoral world where the values and morals are trampled underfoot!  May Our Lady crush the head of the serpent - Satan- who has lied to the world and it is take to heart as truth.  Shine your LIGHT to show the real Truth - Jesus, Mary with the Saints and  His Bride, The Church!  Jesus, we trust in you. Amen
Bless-bless, Barbara
