It was so fun to have them together for the weekend of our VCC - Verly Christmas Camp. They are starting to notice each other and be in the same space. Soon they will be playing together and probably wanting the same toys, and be best buddies as the groups of cousins ahead of them.
Hector noticing George and Birdie added with grandma by Hallel!
How this little guy loved to jump on our bed - a mattress on the floor in the library when we got out there to visit in early February. Pat wanted to make the trip before calving started, and so we made the big trip out and back through the mountains to Washington.
A special calf which was supposed to be a female, but surprise - a bull! Rose still wants to show him at the fair as a cow-calf pair. It is the year of the "M's" -Michael?
And so cute too! Yes, calving is here along with our cow TV here and at the farm!A picture from Cow TV last evening of 5 of the first calves with some in the barn with their moms...
Born Saturday while we were away for my dad's birthday! Thanks, Ruth and Paul and family for holding down the fort.
Out to see the new calves on a beautiful evening at sunset...Cute and curious wanted to have his picture taken by me...
It is a whole new world for this little one. So many prayers for a good calving season. The weather certainly wonderful, and we are most grateful after the COLD we had a few weeks ago!
Mom's nose smells her own calf and soon she is giving him a bath with her tongue. The calf recognizes the voice of the mother as she gently moos at him... if he gets far away from her that "moo" can get loud and demanding for his attention especially when she is engorged with milk for him.
A black pair - like mother like bull calf.
A memory from 7 years ago - Luke is just 4 months old here, and Rose was not 2 yet... her birthday is May 1! They have added Joy, who will be 4 on March 31st!
We are so grateful for our farm family with the 6 kids that all help out around the farm! Calving will see them out on Cow TV bedding the cows and calves in the calving barn on a regular basis. Also Pat and Paul getting the newborns to nurse, and any other help that they need along the way. Doing the work to feed the world and we love our BEEF!
John humbly bowing to Jesus, whom he came to know that and love deeply through brain cancer and through his Mother, Mary the Queen of heaven and earth!
I thought this was a true picture of Hallel living in France for the year! This was a gift to us when we were there for her final vows in July of 2018! It is so reminiscent of the ancient town we stayed in while there - Fanjoiux! We are so blessed to have Hallel's family of the Lamb in our lives each day of our journey - her prayers are felt and True!
Dad and St Basil today from the Office of Readings in his well worn prayer book left behind for me! It is like dad is still praying with me and so he is! May we share his LIGHT/LOVE/LIFE with all we encounter each day!
"Through His Spirit" means so much to dad, mom and I! My parents were Baptized in the Holy Spirit as Protestants and then prayed over me in my middle teens - we shared Charismatic prayer groups and finally attended one on a Cenacle Convent in Wayzata after we moved to Minneapolis! Charismatic nuns that prayed us into The Church! Dad was at an Ignatian retreat and The Holy Spirit led him through Isaiah 55:1-2 to bring all 13 of us into The Church 50 years ago! Each day since has been a blessed gift to me!
Reading I Thirst - 40 days with Mother Teresa
Go in search for Our Lady reminds me once again of John early in his cancer journey when we found ourselves in France for Hallel's taking of her habit! John could barely walk due to his brain biopsy/ataxia, but we managed last minute to go to France! Every time we go to Saint Pierre, we go to Lourdes which is just a few hours away in the foothills of the Pyrenees Mountains.
Hallel in France praying for her family... we are lifted up!
Responsorial Psalm 42:2, 3; 43:3, 4
R. (see 42:3) Athirst is my soul for the living God.
When shall I go and behold the face of God?
As the hind longs for the running waters,
so my soul longs for you, O God.
R. Athirst is my soul for the living God.
When shall I go and behold the face of God?
Athirst is my soul for God, the living God.
When shall I go and behold the face of God?
R. Athirst is my soul for the living God.
When shall I go and behold the face of God?
Send forth your light and your fidelity;
they shall lead me on
And bring me to your holy mountain,
to your dwelling-place.
R. Athirst is my soul for the living God.
When shall I go and behold the face of God?
Then will I go in to the altar of God,
the God of my gladness and joy;
Then will I give you thanks upon the harp,
O God, my God!
R. Athirst is my soul for the living God.
When shall I go and behold the face of God?
Yes, Jesus is thirsting for us, but we also thirst and long for him to be close to us and so we come to him in prayer with every breath that we take and every beat of our hearts! "Jesus, Jesus, Jesus..."
Saint John of God
1495-1550
Feast Day: March 8
Patronage: booksellers, firefighters, heart patients, hospitals, nurses, printers, publishers, the sick
Saint John of God was a Portuguese-born soldier turned health-care worker in Spain. He was impulsive and at times reckless, yet had a deep interior prayer life. He was a shepherd, soldier, bookseller, and hospital worker. When he was 40, after a sermon by St. John of Avila, he had a profound conversion to selflessly dedicate his life for others. He started the Brothers Hospitallers to continue his work among the poor, sick, homeless and unwanted.
