David is starting over again with ducks as last summer he had 4 around the farm, who laid their eggs under the pine tree by the house each morning. The 2 black ones disappeared and one of the brown ones was killed. One came over to stay in my chicken house for the winter and something got into the pen and had duck dinner... Time to start over. David sold the eggs to a older couple that were allergic to chicken eggs. We are not sure if these are females or not, but time will tell.
Pat and all his siblings went here, our 5 attended here through 8th grade, and now 3 of our grandkids go here - Simon and Mary are now in the high school, and Joy will start attending per-school next year. Of course, John and Bobbi's children will attend here as their home is just a block away, and both of them attended school here and were classmates.
The kids - Rose, Luke and David were excited to tell grandma that the plexiglass partitions are coming down that have been around their desks for this school year. "It is so much better to have that gone now!" Rose exclaimed. It is such a great feeling to have our world getting back to somewhat normal! Being separated has left us feeling alienated and sad.
It does seem really puzzling on sitting shoulder to shoulder on an airplane, and then having pews blocked off still at mass and so many still not coming. Pat calls the difference - "The want tos, and the have tos."
David and Rose got on their work clothes and rubber boots to go over to a neighbors barn where we are going to be putting our first 30-40 pairs of cows and their calves. It will be a new way of us having the space we need for them - with 170+ to calve it gets to be a juggling act. Now to get through the next weather that is coming... Spring has rain and snow which makes keeping them dry a challenge.
It took Ruth, Paul, Simon, David, Rose and grandpa to get it all in place and then load up the trailer and put them in their new home away from home. As of this morning I think there are about 12 pairs in there, and there is talk of 30-40 total in the next weeks. It is possible that we can start to have up to 10 calves a day. As it is now we are having about 4 in 24 hours, and that can add up quickly, too.
After pouring my heart out here yesterday. I had misgivings about how preachy and judgmental I sounded in sharing, what I see to be The Truth concerning the Churches Teaching against the use of Artificial Birth control.
To put it in a positive light rather than negative - that the use of Natural Family Planning is how we should approach our childbearing years as it allows God into the picture. The Church is so right on - as we are not in control of our marriage and family... we are not in any position to take it into our own hands and leave God out of the picture!
I don't know about you, but I know that I am a sinner and a mess and weak and pathetic in so many ways in my life - how can I even consider planning my family without God? With Natural there is understanding our bodies and abstaining to prevent, yet there is still room for God to work and give us the children that are for us.

The words of the Tax collector today in the Gospel really resonate with me today after I see how inadequate I am at lovingly share The Truth. The bottom line is that I just want to remind people of the happiness and peace that come to us if we do not hesitate to follow The Church's wisdom and direction. Does it have to be proclaimed from the pulpit regularly?
I had a friend share with me that her daughter had gone to a pastor, who told her and her boyfriend that it was a sin to be cohabitating and that they should stop and live apart until marriage. "Why didn't The Catholic Church tell her that?" was her question to me. I was baffled that she did not know that this was The Truth given to us by The Church! Am I naive? Isn't this common knowledge? I guess not, what to do about it?
I am hungering to get to Reconciliation... and the words of the sinner/tax collector today just reminds me of how much I yearn and need to lay my burdens at the feet of Jesus in the confessional. How does it get to be so much time between confessions, when it helps me in my staggering down the narrow path dragging my Most Cherished Cross? I feel shame and regret and it is hard to get in there, yet it is healing and brings me to a place of better loving and serving Jesus through returning to those around me the unconditional love and forgiveness I have been given.
"O God, be merciful to me a sinner." Luke 18 is the Gospel today - Jesus coming to us in The Word! The first reading from Hosea 6 is a promise to us... Let us know, let us strive to know the LORD;
as certain as the dawn is his coming,and his judgment shines forth like the light of day!
He will come to us like the rain,
like spring rain that waters the earth.” Hosea 6
Jesus, we need you and long to be used as your hands and feet and voice of Truth. May we die to self so that you may live in us. May we give without counting the cost. May we embrace our Most Cherished Cross and find LIFE/LOVE/LIGHT. Jesus, we trust in you. Amen
