St Francis Xavier Cabrini pray for us...

No, don't worry... this is not today... but last year around Christmas... but getting up and seeing snow coming down and landing on the deck at 5:30 this morning... I felt that I had the liberty to use some pretty snow pictures today as I ramble on...  Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart set up schools, hospitals and orphanages just around 100 years ago...  She came then to the U.S. and then South America... she accomplished so much for those in need and was the first American citizen to be cannonized!  That was some worker!  The tought of all that she accomplished in the lifetime... makes the tasks that I think are something seem quite small and trivial, but the Lord has different tasks for all of us... all aiming at the common good!  I should rejoice that there are people that are able to do much in this world - doers - Martha's!  Yet, where would the world be without those that are called to carry out the prayer piece?  Those that are contemplative!  They are truly the ones that are needed as much as the doers to keep the world going towards the light!
After our experience with the Poor Clares... Maria entered their community the first of January - the Solemnity of Mary - in 2004... She returned from studying her year in Rome with the Catholic Studies program at St Thomas... filled with a desire to discern a call to the contemplative life after reading The Story of a Soul by ST Therese of Lisseux... It seems in reading Susan's spiritual journal that she too was influenced by the "smallness" and burning love that she had for her LOVE - Jesus!  It is all quite amazing!
Once again... this is not happening today... yet!
WE discovered the beauty of the cloistered sisters, and how their work of prayer for the needs of the world is so deep and important and powerful!  The many times in the year since that we not only call Hallel and her community, but also the Poor Clares... they always have such wise words to share and the fears subside to know of their prayers for us at the hard "storms of life."
I must go and face the day and all that it will hold... hopefully the snow has been exaggerated... much like these pictures... I have ground to cover and things to do today.. The Lord is in control!  Jesus, we love you and thank you for all the many ways that people are called to serve you... may we not judge, but see that all parts of the body are needed and necessary and whole!  We are yours!  Jesus, we trust in you!  Amen and Halleluia!
Bless-bless, Barb
"God, Our Father, you called St Francis Cabrini from Italy to serve the immigrants of America.  By her example teach us concern for the strangers, the sick, and the frustrated.  By her prayers help us to see Christ in all the men and women we meet.  Amen"
