Servant of His Word...

At one point yesterday I noticed a family picture on the wall and noticed that they had 4 girls and a boy, so we shared about how we had similar families.  Thier oldest was the boy, so a very different dynamic.  I said to the woman..."You can only imagine how many mothers my son had, being the youngest boy in a household of 5 women."  Yes, John was very much mothered and came out the way he is... probably too comfortable being around women, and not that interested in pursuing a relationship... maybe because he has so many women already very interested in him and involved in his life.  I found a beautiful note in my prayer book last night that he had slipped in there before he left on his retreat...He speaks of his love for me and gratitude for "you saved my life both spiritually and from brain cancer."  Signed "your little boy, John Patrick Verly."  I see that we are connected by our shared experience, but that our sharing prayer and the Gospel every day that we have been together was so important to the three of us!  Pat was very much there with us when he could be, and that was most of the time at home and when he could be there with us in Rochester!  Two years ago we were in the midst of the testing in preparation for the stem cell tranplant!  We had gotten the news of CR - Complete Responce/Christ Rules - the cancer was gone!
John getting annointed before his surgery... he came out with ataxia on the left side of his body - unable to walk, and a small part is still left with him.... he is changed and a new John!  He has been touched by the Cross!  I must go now, but am knowing that we have all been touched by the Word come to life in the lives of our family...  John's cancer was truly the Cross for us and coming to the LIGHT of the resurrection through dying in HIM and finding LIFE anew.  WE have encountered Hallel's vocation within her community and how they become the Word of God, and represent Jesus knocking on the door of the poor.  Yes, we see and know that the Word is Jesus, and we are His servants of the Word!

Jesus, may we spend time with you in your Word, and experience all that ways that we are called to serve you and love you and praise you with our lives.  May we become all that we are called to be - servants of your Word.  Use us to your honor and glory .   Jesus, we trust in you.  Amen and Halleluia!

Bless-bless, Barb
