Watching a few minutes on the news the other night as the Governor signed gay marriage into law on the front lawn of the capital with thousands dancing and hugging and kissing... it truly felt like I had passed into hell! I know that sounds just awful at such joy, but to have the sanctity of marriage trampled on by saying that two people of the same sex can now marry... that is very very wrong! Marriage is to be between one man and one woman - God made it that way! The Holy Book/Bible is there to guide and direct us on the path to Heaven, as is our True Church - The Catholic Church - and in both of them, which truly is saying in Christ, it is clearly spelled out- one man and one woman, until death do us part! Yes, God also gave us free-will, but does that mean as parents with a homosexual child that we send them down the wide path of sin and distruction for some fleeting happiness in this world? No! It means that we help them to find the True Path of the Cross, and find the ability to include God in their lives through constant prayer, sacraments, devotionals,The Saints and Our Spiritual Mother... there is so much to assist us to find our way to Heaven carrying our Most Cherished Cross and following after Jesus. As my brother said this morning - "we are also fighting "fallen nature" and we should not encourage (or legalize) behavior that celebrates relationships that must, by nature, exclude God. " That is the whole picture right there - we are leaving God out when we engage in a marriage between two men or two women! He did not make us to work that way - a marriage is to be free,total,faithful, and fruitful! It is impossible to be fruitful and to bring LIFE into the world as two men or two women! I know that many are thinking of all the ways that same sex couples do this now - but there again they are leaving God out of the picture and taking life into their own hands - using surrogates, etc.
This picture kind of portrays the craziness of LIFE - all going in different directions with different emotions - yet all part of the family of God!
May we bask in the "glory" that the Father gave to his Son, Jesus Christ, and then He revealed and gave to us... I find a way to describe this Truth within as the Spirit dwells in my heart,soul and mind - LIFE/LOVE/LIGHT! Armed with this glory and as a follower of Christ and His Bride, The Church... we are able to "take courage" as we face all that comes to us in LIFE! I look back at John's journey called cancer/healing, and I know that armed with all that we were given for the battle for John's life we found all we needed to fight the good fight along with hundreds of prayer warriors from around the world! He is now close to 3 1/2 years cancer free, and just weeks away from the 4th anniversary on Father's day of discovering cancer in John's brain! More recently we fought another fight for our grandson's Patrick's life after being born dead! His brain has now been proclaimed healed and healthy too! God is too good! We need to have HIM always with us on our journey of LIFE and if we falter and sin to come back with contrite hearts to the sacrament of healing/reconcilliation!
Jesus, we are so needing your LIGHT to show us the Truth in this world which is filled with darkness and sin. Yes, you have given us the ability to choose our own path, but it can only be truly happy with YOU by our side, or carrying us when we are weak and lost! Today you spoke to your Father about us in the Gospel, and revealed that you have given us the glory - LOVE/LIFE/LIGHT- which the Father has given YOU! May this glory filling us allow us to "take courage" as St Paul did today in the face of adversity! Filled with your Truth we find the Way - narrow and carrying our Most Cherished Cross - and through embracing our Cross we find LIFE eternal! Life is paradise with YOU - a little slice of Heaven here on earth. Yes, we are called to turn away from sin, and when we sin to come to you in the sacrament of reconcilliation and lay those burdens at your feet! We are called to leave self behind and denying our selfish ways we find that we can give without counting the cost. We know it is hard but we are called to live by the motto of the Community of the Lamb - "Wounded, I will not cease to LOVE." We see this modeled for us by the innocent and spotless Lamb that was slain for our sins! May we be Lambs this day, dear Lord, and win others with our unselfish LOVE! May the Truth be known and believed and followed in this world, O Lord. Although same sex marriage is legalized it still is not making God part of the picture. This is the sad Truth we need to share with the world. We need YOU, Lord, to find True Happiness! Jesus, we trust in YOU. Amen and Halleluia
