Taking a look at the relics of the saints on the altar after the service.
Today is St Elizabeth of Hungary... it is so impressive to read of her life of service to the poor as a queen that "served the poor with her hands." All this she did and still died at 24! I noticed with my sister, Mary, who died at 28 from cancer - that she seemed to live large for those few years here on earth and touch many of us as she joyfully and excitedly shared in our lives. For me it was when I was on bedrest with my second daughter, Nancy, and then after for a few months. She embraced our lives on the farm, fell in love with the farm, was a hard and willing worker - helping Pat and his brothers, and eventually the Lord answered her prayers and she found her farmer, Jerry from Wisconsin! Mary is Godmother to two of my girls and I pray for her daily to be with Jesus as do her two Goddaughters! To think that she has met St Elizabeth of Hungary and how they share death at a young age after living LIFE to the fullest! Wow!
Jesus, I love you and want to serve you with all I have. May my life be lived as a good example to all those I encounter. May I die to self so that you may live in me! Jesus, I trust in you. Bless-bless, Barb
