The Pat and Barb Verly family and their 5 children, in laws and grandkids along with many prayer warriors have been drawn together by John's cancer... sharing daily for 8 months started this blog- Family Soul Story - Our faith, family, farm and now our cancer journey called HEALING have colored and deepened our world. WE continue to share and depend on the support of our prayer warrior community, that has lowered us into the Lord's presence for His healing!

John arrived for the day with his two sweet babies! He helped me turn to my May calendar a week late, and what a special gift it is from his wonderful wife!
It brings tear to my eyes and JOY to my heart to see these amazing "wonder women" just days before Mother's day/Birdie's first birthday! Both Pat's wonderful mother and mine!
Hallel is indeed a spiritual mother in the model of her Spiritual Mother of heaven and earth - Mary, the Mother of God! Hallel's example shows her nieces and nephews the joy that is to be found in following the Lord's call and plan for each of them and to consider being a priest, brother or sister is an amazing life to live traveling down the narrow path to heaven forever!
A memory of great price from 5 years ago when Ruth had moved on the farm and had the 100+ year old farmhouse her own, after living there and growing up on the same farm with us! It is so beautiful to see her having the life she grew up with and doing it much better than I! It does not make me ashamed but happy and proud.
These two snuggle buddies arrived to share pancakes with grandpa and I. We had just had a discussion of whether I am a worrier or prayer. "You worry about things and think the worst case scenarios." "No, I pray!" "Can worrying add one minute to your life?" "No, but praying can!"
Praying for Maria and her baby girl in the womb at 1p yesterday when she was having a stress test and shot to get Maggie's lungs ready for birth in a week. Praying for all to be well after 2 years ago - a contraction that showed up on the stress test brought Hector here a week early! "Maria has a checkered past." "And you thrive on that! " "No, it brings me to my knees in my inner chapel - it is not worry- it is prayer!"
Sharing the rosary for our daughter and granddaughter at 1p on a rainy day. Calling upon Mary to intercede for us and this precious new life!

All this sharing with the constant distractions of little ones... the theme seems to be JOY! And the final part of the Gospel today is promising us just that if we LOVE Jesus with our ALL!

The youngest of my dad's great grandchildren now has 3 coming after her in the Cross Clan! Next week my new granddaughter is to arrive on Wednesday the 12th of May! I am scheduled to fly there on Monday - that is to Seattle/Fort Lewis, Tacoma!

The eucharist is The Lord’s passover
One man has died for all, and now in every church in the mystery of bread and wine he heals those for whom he is offered in sacrifice, giving life to those who believe and holiness to those who consecrate the offering. This is the flesh of the Lamb; this is his blood. The bread that came down from heaven declared: The bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world. It is significant, too, that his blood should be given to us in the form of wine, for his own words in the gospel, I am the true vine, imply clearly enough that whenever wine is offered as a representation of Christ’s passion, it is offered as his blood. This means that it was of Christ that the blessed patriarch Jacob prophesied when he said: He will wash his tunic in wine and his cloak in the blood of the grape. The tunic was our flesh, which Christ was to put on like a garment and which he was to wash in his own blood.
Creator and Lord of all things, whatever their nature, he brought forth bread from the earth and changed it into his own body. Not only had he the power to do this, but he had promised it; and, as he had changed water into wine, he also changed wine into his own blood. It is the Lord’s passover, Scripture tells us, that is, the Lord’s passing. We are no longer to look upon the bread and wine as earthly substances. They have become heavenly, because Christ has passed into them and changed them into his body and blood. What you receive is the body of him who is the heavenly bread, and the blood of him who is the sacred vine; for when he offered his disciples the consecrated bread and wine, he said: This is my body, this is my blood. We have put our trust in him. I urge you to have faith in him; truth can never deceive.
When Christ told the crowds that they must eat his flesh and drink his blood, they were horrified and began to murmur among themselves: This teaching is too hard; who can be expected to listen to it? As I have already told you, thoughts such as these must be banished. The Lord himself used heavenly fire to drive them away by going on to declare: It is the spirit that gives life; the flesh is of no avail. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life.
From dad today in his Office of Readings in his Book of Prayer of The Church! How he has left me many notes so that I can continue to sit at his feet and learn - knowing that he is praying for me more perfectly!

John unable to do lifting due to the stitches healing in his eyes. Help in lifting the two! They love to snuggle with dad for a few minutes at a time!

Two thumbs are so special to me! All 4 of my girls were thumb suckers and they were the best ever kids. How they all loved to take their naps each day, and so did mom!
A few peaceful minutes and then they were off again. I need to end this today and make some lunch then we will have nap time, and how we all love that!
Lord, thank you for the distraction of family to keep our eyes off ourselves as we die to self so that you may dwell in us and our JOY may be complete! Jesus, we trust in you. Amen and Hallelujah

I learned that Elizabeth converted her athiest husband after he death - when he read her spiritual journal and later became a Dominican priest! Wow!
