From finishing reading the book - Confessions of a Mega Church Pastor tonight while I worked in the Birthright office... I was moved by the words he wrote about Blessed Teresa of Calcutta...."Mother Teresa spoke so poignantly in 1994 at the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington. At the time she spoke , she was an internationally known servant leader, who passed on what she had received from the Church and then lived it out more powerfully than anyone else on earth.
"When she spoke, the image was striking. This was not her opinion, one opinion among many. Here was a tiny little woman, standing on the Truth of the Church. This was the Truth she selflessly lived out decade after decade in the slums of Calcutta... Imagine how Pres and Mrs Clinton must have felt when they heard Mother Teresa say to the thousands of attendees: And if we accept that a mother can kill even her own child, how can we tell other people not to kill one another? How do we persuade a woman not to have an abortion? As always, we must persuade her with love and we remind ourselves that love means to be willing to give until it hurts. Jesus gave even His life to love us. So, the mother who is thinking of abortion, should be helped to love.... the father is told that he does not have to take responsibility at all for the child he has brought into the world. The father is likely to put other women into the same trouble. So abortion just leads to more abortion. Any country that accepts abortion is not teaching its people to love,but to use any violence to get what they want. This is why the greatest destroyer of love and peace is abortion.
"Little Mother Teresa rebuked our entire Western culture of death. She rebuked our selfishness and our love of convenience. And she shamed us for our lack of love... She stood on Truth mapped out by centuries of the Church's moral teaching and tradition. Her own life proved the validity of the Truth coming from her lips." Allen Hunt
