A family day of freezing corn...

What a delight to have Nancy here with sweet Augustine- Gus!  He was so good all day.  And it was so wonderful to have Nancy here to visit and work and take us back to those summer family jobs in the kitchen.  The girls were saying that for them these days rank up there with doing fun things together, because we all pitch in and make a big job fun!

He spent an hour and a half out in the corn field with mom... picking the first of our 12 pails of corn.

The kids found that the apples were good eating, so it will probably be soon and we will be making applesauce and pie filling...  Maria and her kids are very big on applesauce, so it will maybe their turn to come and help me for a day.  Wouldn't it be nice if it were that easy for them to come... now it looks like they could be living in Texas for a year.

Gus always is happy... if he can watch his mom... she's the best mom ever in his little eyes!

Dave had to taste test the corn... after 5 ears - we thought that meant that it was pretty good!

Simon likes to put his hand to the job... learning the skills for the future.
A good time to catch up on our lives, and get some food put up for the winter.
A special Gus break... he's so good when he kicks and looks out at the dogs, but nothing can compare to some attention from mom!

The last few pails of Gold - delivered with a smile!

A big day with lots of laughter and a freezer full of corn.  Thank you Lord for the family times that make up our lives as we put up food for our families... food that amazes people that have never tasted the corn we take for granted... so sweet and wonderful - you can taste the LOVE in it!  Jesus, we trust in you!

Love is a to be shared, and sweetens our lives!
