Gus is in his favorite spot... lying by the patio door where he can kick on his soft blanket and look out at the activity as the two dogs and cat interact in the sunshine. We call our lives on the farm -"Never a dull moment." I think that Gus has gotten a full dose of that with all the craziness and noise of a big family freezing project... pots and pans banging, cousins running back and forth in the house, adults visiting and of course grandpa coming in and having trouble with the baler and all the noise and activity that means as he is on the phone looking for parts and then sending John off to Brookings for the part...then grandpa heads over to work on the baler with his 6 and 3 year old grandsons in tow... Yes, Gus our lives are never dull!
It warms my heart to hear Nancy and John having some sharing while we wait for Pat to come in from outside. How wonderful that now as adults...they continue to care and share and enjoy the tie of being siblings in such a real way! It makes a mother's heart happy and rejoice to see how my kids can still be here for these "big family days." To share and do a big job as a united force... the two girls, Ruth and Nancy, were sharing that these are some of the best memories they have from growing up, and they can still experience them! Thank you Lord, for the gift of family on the farm! Jesus, we trust in you!
Jesus, we look to your holy family, and know that it is our model for living our lives. We know that you worked side by side with St Joseph, and learned the skill of being a carpenter. It is so powerful to hear my children say that these days of coming together as a family to share skills passed down, and to do a big job...these are by far the times they cherish, and carry forth, and continue to willingly and joyfully carry forth into now...even with the changes in their lives and circumstances. Jesus, we trust in you! Amen and Hosanna and Halleluia!
