The ability to share the experiences we had in France with family here is a way of really appreciating and looking at our time there with newness of appreciation and delight! At breakfast to share the joy and tears we had at the mass of the taking of the habit and changing of names the night before Hallel took her vows... Wow!
Surprising to us that it would be that way, but Pat realized just what we had experienced two years before, when John and I traveled this far after his second chemo for brain cancer... and just walking to the bathroom without his dad for the first time the night before! Pat saw the transformation of a girl in a white polo and her own name from her birth... come forth dressed in a sparkling new blue habit, her hair covered with a veil and given a new name... Little Sister____! And to hear each piece of their habit described... for instance the scapular they wear over the top like an apron as representing the "Cross" of Christ - the Most Cherished Cross which they embrace and carry forth into their lives in the Community... a life of poverty, chastity and obedience...the vows that Hallel promised her life to the next day! When Fr Jean Claude described their habits as being the "color of the heavens and the shape of the cross" we all wept as the young, little sister Marie John translated his French into our English.
So much beauty and LOVE for HIM in all that we were able to be a part of with them! Christ is truly present, as He will be at mass here in a few minutes in Plymouth,Mn, but there is such deep reverence and truly He is treated with utmost tenderness, love and devotion... How I want to raise my hands and cry out in JOY the many Halleluias that greet Him as He comes forth in His Word! And fall on my knees after receiving Him... Body, Soul, and Divinity in the Eucharist... long moments of adoration and worship of the Christ that now dwells within them at this miraculous thing of Him feeding us at the Table of LIFE!
I look forward to a trip up to see my parents with the little family today and having the chance to try to put into words once again the amazing TRUTH! Jesus, we trust in you and are coming to be with you at Mass! Bless-bless, Barb
