Dave shows me the flower that he made at Preschool today... outside the big cottonwood tree at the end of their driveway is in shock due to the freezing temps after so much early warmth. There was a prayer vigil set for a young boy on hospice that is fighting what looks to be his last battle with brain cancer... It was set to happen outside of his home from 6p-7p in Litchfield. I was in the midst of making supper for Ruth's kids and found myself looking at the candle lit and the tomb that I put out on Easter Sunday with Hail Mary's coming forth and attempting to meditate on the Crown of Thorns mystery!
The tomb is a geode that my grandfather gave to me years ago, and the stone that was in front of the tomb and was rolled away is an prehistoric artifact that they found in one of our fields when they were picking rocks about 10 years ago... a grinding tool. The risen Christ statue is missing, so I had to make one this year... I recall that Gage's ( the young boy with cancer) mom wrote on Easter how she found some little comfort on this most Holy Day. Her words are amazing so I will share them here;

Easter
"Jesus Christ has Risen Today! Alleluia! With this in mind as much as we are struggling with this journey our precious is on, we find comfort in knowing that because Christ died for us so we will live.
Gage is having more frequent pain, but the medicine is doing a good job at keeping him comfortable. We cherish every moment he is awake and every moment he is sleeping. He told me during the night that he kept dreaming about big bright people and animals. I asked him if it looked like Heaven, he said I think so mom, but I'm not ready to go there yet. I told him that it was okay, it was Jesus way of showing him how wonderful Heaven is so that when he is ready he won't be scared."

Pat and I just say that we cannot compare what we faced with John to this... there was never a time that he was sent home to die! And I think that his parents would love to have him with them another 10+ years... So hard!
Jesus, hold Gage close to your heart burning with love for him. Give he and his family strength and the ability to place all in your hands. May you heal and comfort. Jesus, we trust in you. Amen and Halleluia
