The best kind of family times on the farm- canning days!

A lot of good food going home with Nancy in a couple days... apples and tomatoes are used here a lot and in different ways.  Hopefully we will get some pie apples later from our son-in-law's parents... then we can make our pie filling to end off a big summer of canning.  The Lord provided apples when we have none on the tree!  Between Ruth and I - we planted 60 or so tomato plants!  So that has been huge work for us - added to this Nancy took a dozen quarts of spaghetti sauce we had made earlier.  That is a lot of good food!  My mom just wrote me a wonderful email and said how excited she is to see all the good food we have put up this week - she loves our applesauce!  When your parents get up to their 80s it means so much that they love and look forward to our homemade food made with love as a family together on the farm!  These are some of my most happy times and really are the essence of our life growing up on the farm for me!  It is so great to see the JOY my kids have for this life and how they come back to help Pat and I make the food to feed 6 families!
Another picture of JOY - canning with the family about 20+ years ago!
Modern day picture of JOY - visiting and working together making food for our families filled with LOVE!
Another blast from the past revisited - the girls remember wearing the canning rings for bracelets as we spent family time in the kitchen.  It was super fun to have this little 10 month old girl thinking that those canning rings make pretty bracelets just like mommy and auntie did!  Jesus, thank you for the gift of family and memories!  Jesus, we trust in YOU.  bless-bless, Barb
This is a picture of why we do the work!  15 month old Rose Ida smiling as she spoons in her applesauce
The young learning at the feet of their mothers, and then the time spent together as cousins.  That is an aspect that we didn't have here much, so we are making new traditions and it makes for a house full of LIFE/LOVE/LIGHT!
