Nancy is now back home and Billy is back from Australia! They are reunited as a family! It was already a week since we were in Kansas City with our Hallel and her Community! It was such a gift to be able to have the ceremony here when a postulant could take her habit with the Community and change her name! I saw it twice in France- for Hallel in 2009, and then when she took her first vows in 2011 - the night before 6 took their habits. This really touched Pat and his mother, who were unable to see Hallel take hers, and they realized the power of this transformation as you visually see them taking very seriously the call to be Christ's and coming out in the habit that is the color of the sky and the shape of the Cross! Through watching these other girls -Pat could understand the emotions we felt as we watched our little Susan become Hallel! It was that much more emotional for us as we were in the midst of battling John's brain cancer at the same time, and miraculously made it to France after his second chemo and he got better! Within 24 hours we bought tickets and flew to France!
It seems every morning we awake to horrible news of violence breaking out in our country and world! A reminder that we need to be kind in our own small world and begin to make a difference. It was shocking to hear the news that a horrible new game of pure evil and violence has broken the record in sales in the last week! And that it is young people that are lining up for it. How damaging to the inner self is a diet of this? How can parents allow this and even buy it for their children?
Lord, we place this need in the palm of your hands... We know that you are in control in the midst of the storm. May we be kind and not give in to the selfishness of anger - wounded we will not cease to LOVE. Jesus, we trust in YOU. Amen and Hallelujah
