Pat is hauling in corn from the bin today... emptying them so that they can be filled back up in the next week with corn harvested from the fields. The corn died from drought, so it will be interesting to see how the yield will be. Then we had a big wind with some rain last week and knocked a lot of it down, so now combining will be challenging too. As one old farmer said at the nursing home over the weekend - "Every year it is something." That is so true - each year is all it's own with one thing or another to deal with. It makes you rely on your faith - just as all the other things in life that we are not in control of. You certainly cannot control Mother Nature at all. And truly that goes for most things in LIFE... Jesus is in control and we are not. John has been home looking for work all summer and now into the fall... there have been a lot of "noes" and it is very humbling and hard. Yet, at the same time he has had many opportunities to share his story of Faith, and gets a lot of positive feedback about it, and others that ask him to come and share with their group. This is something that truly burns within him- to share how he has been touched by God in answer to his prayers for Faith. Simon on his birthday in front of the decoration his mom put on their porch for the occasion - we were very surprised to see how large the ears of corn were that Ruth got from his father's field by town. It gives us hope that our harvest might surprise us!
How wonderful is the Truth that the work of God - His Word- is alive and well in our lives and world this day and age. It isn't reserved for just nice stories in Scriptures! John heard the Word of God/Christ though the prayers of the hundreds of prayer warriors around him as well as the sacraments of our Church and the sacramentals that we clung to - the rosary! Now he is burning to act upon it and share far and wide with all that the Lord is healing and answering prayers and touching lives today in our world! So "hearing the Word and acting on it" does not only apply to reading the stories from the Bible - but also knowing that we too can come up behind him and touch the hem of His garment and find healing, for He is here with us!

I have shared this story before, but it is so powerful to show the power of the sacraments - Christ's presence in The Church! I was invited by Susan and her small community of girls in the Discernment House to come up for a monthly gathering called Cor Jesu - Heart of Jesus. I arrived at a beautiful church on the St Paul Seminary campus full of young people. Susan got up and spoke very briefly and beautifully of her LOVE for Jesus in His Church, and her mother sat with tears of JOY! Then about 5 priests brought forward the Monstrance with Jesus in it and placed it on the altar with an altar scarf/cloth draped around the bottom with a end on either side hanging down. Those present were then invited to go to reconciliation to these priests around the church, as those present were singing praise and worship to Jesus, and also invited to come up and hold onto the hem of his garment and kneel with this close contact to HIM! The most beautiful sight was a woman, who had been a sister/Bride of Christ for about 25 years - kneeling in a very intimate prayer with her Spouse - holding onto the hem of His garment!
Jesus, we are filled with such gratitude this day at how you are walking with us down the narrow path as we carry our Most Cherished Cross and follow after YOU. We are touched by YOU each day as we are surrounded and supported by your "creative Love, your goodness, your compassion." We are weak and sinners, yet you pick us up and brush us off and forgive us unconditionally - You do say to us - "Go and sin no more." How? We need to die to self and allow your Spirit to come within and make us anew to love and serve YOU in all those that we meet this day.... most especially those in our domestic Church/family. We long to see your face in all those we meet. Jesus, we trust in YOU. Amen and Hallelujah
