Mary Morning - "Morning star"

Mary and I made a quick visit to Our Lady in my Mary Garden this cool bright morning.  In the midst of the craziness of getting the kids fed, dressed, teeth brushed and drive to school... I mentioned to Mary that it is a special day for her and her namesake - Our Spiritual Mother - The Most Holy Name of Mary!  It has been a while since we have been out there, and I think that Mary was surprised at how much taller she is than this very familiar statue from her growing up days.  There was a branch she had to lean under and I think that she remembers when she would lean against her as a small child...
Yes, quite a difference from this time when she was just around 1 or 2 years old.  For Mary this statue and the many times we have visited her Spiritual Mother - this is truly a measurement to see how much she has grown - now she is so much taller as she is now 7 years old!  On the way to school in the car, we shared a "Hail Mary" led by Mary and then sang the Blessing Song led by Simon.  The Blessing Song is something we have learned from the Community of the Lamb.  We will soon be there with them in just a few days!  Actually tomorrow night we will all be arriving in Kansas City for the Dedication of their Little Monastery there.  Hallel just called with a request for some of our applesauce - "Little Sister Marie really likes our applesauce." said Hallel.  How we love to be appreciated!  In the car we started a discussion of Our Lady - Mary shared that she is the only one that was taken up to heaven from earth body and soul.  "That is because she is our special Mother.  You can never have too many mothers - there are great, grand, mother and our Spiritual Mother!"  It was a great trip to school, and Mary and Simon headed out on the playground with big smiles and waves!  Later I wished that I had thought to take a movie of Simon singing and Mary and he praying... So.... I have been practicing with my camera taking my first movie of David singing.  It has taken me a lot of tries and now the final product is sideways and I cannot correct that, I guess.  So that will come at the end - I hope!  I still have to figure out how to get it on my blog...
One more of Mary - now 3 and the same height as Mary statue...  Today in the Gospel Jesus reminds us that we are called to LOVE over and above - not just to love those that love us, but rather to love those that are mean to us, hate us, mistreat us, strikes us.  When we are hurt by words it is hard enough, but who when they are physically hurt by a strike - turn the other cheek?  Our instincts are that we want to hit back and we feel justified to do that!  Jesus shows us how to live this out as we gaze upon him on the Cross... And who was at the foot of the Cross and also allowing this to happen with great compassion and deep appreciation and LOVE - Our Spiritual Mother, Mary Most Holy!  She also shows us how to LOVE without counting the cost!
Mary a couple years older and now taller...
"Do to others as you would have them do to you."  Jesus in the Gospel today - Luke 6:27-38
Jesus, we are so blessed by all that YOU give us by Word and example as we strive to become saints and be Yours alone!  May we die to self and return even those things that hurt us with LOVE/LIFE/LIGHT!  The bright LIGHT in this world is Our Lady - Our Spiritual Mother that is our morning star showing us to YOU, O Jesus!  Jesus, we trust in YOU.  Amen and Hallelujah
Bless-bless, Barb
"The name of Mary came from the treasure house of God," according to Richard of St Lawrence.  "Your exalted and admirable name, O Mary, came from the treasure house of God, because all the Persons in the Blessed Trinity bestowed on you a name that is superior to every other name except that of your Son."
"Blessed be the name of Mary, Virgin and Mother."  (Divine Praises)
David with Morning Star - Mary Most Holy - and with a morning glory!
