Being reminded in many ways that today in the 12th anniversary of 911! A twinge knowing that Ruth, Paul and baby inutero are on a plane flying to Washington DC this fateful anniversary day. It was the root of many prayers shared with Pat, John and the kids at breakfast -without going into details with them. It is true that there are things in life that bring us to our knees, and that is a good thing for us! Our Crosses - Our Most Cherished Crosses bring us to Jesus and the LIFE He has given the world through his sacrifice! His words to us this day in the form of the Beatitudes from Luke - Truly He is describing the form that the Cross takes in our lives! Telling us that our suffering - being poor, hungry, weeping, being despised and hated, and left out... that these lead us to HIM and his saving grace in our lives! We should Be and embrace all of these times in our lives and we are embracing our Most Cherished Cross to find LIFE/LOVE/LIGHT!
Tears this morning as John and I shared the morning office together - Lauds. A very powerful meditation written by someone who was just a few buildings away from the Trade Towers on 911. Her description of how she has lost much of her talents due to the effects of that day, yet through that loss she is always coming closer to Jesus and that is what it is all about!
"Two months into the job, I discovered that there was a chapel fifty feet from my office, Our Lady of the Rosary, the Mother Seaton Shrine, and I made that my second home. This was an answer to my prayer, which by then was becoming, 'Lord, I want you to be my full focus.' Because I was working there, I was downtown on Sept 11th. And that brought this disease, which has put him front and center, as I have said.
It was almost a relief to know I would have to depend upon him now. God has to take each one of my gifts and talents away one by one to see what the real Gift is. My life is no longer who I am, all my contacts, what I can do- because I can no longer do what I was able to do physically. Now my life is just him, on whom I fully depend... If I had not been in a relationship of dependence on Christ, accepting so much from others, due to my losses, would be unbearable. ...I know a lot of pain, and getting through the day is truly trying, but I cannot emphasize enough that God is there every minute. How can I accept all this as a gift?" Tiffiny Gulla, a composer and choreographer, was working for a financial corporation close to the World Trade Center on Sept 11, 2001.
Jesus, our insides are in a turmoil this day of anniversary of the horror leading to the death of 3,000 due to terror! Now with all the sadness related to the situation in the Mideast - Syria and Egypt. We are filled with sadness and are weeping this day for the sad state of the world - You promise us, Lord, that our tears will be turned to JOY/Laughter! May we always strive to lift up the needs of the world from our knees. You take away those sources of our pride, so that humbly we can see how we are nothing without YOU, and need YOU within our hearts, minds and souls - to be LIGHTS to this world of darkness! May we be in a constant state of prayer - "Lord, I want you to be my full focus." Take all that keeps that from happening away from me! Jesus, I trust in YOU. Amen and Hallelujah
Bless-bless, Barb
Psalm 145 from mass today reminds us...
"Let your works give you thanks, O Lord,
and let your faithful ones bless you.
Let them discourse of the glory of your Kingdom
and speak of your might.
The Lord is compassionate towards all his works.
Making known to men your might
and the glorious splendor of your Kingdom.
Your Kingdom is a Kingdom for all ages,
and your dominion endures through all generations.
The Lord is compassionate towards all his works."
No matter what Jesus is in control, and we can TRUST!
