All that a year holds - Patrick Joseph

The kids in El Paso in the pumpkin patch a few days ago... We had a chance to Skype the little family today and sing happy birthday to our wonderful Patrick!  Grandpa wanted him to walk, so they put him down and everyone walked to the other end of the kitchen - he stood up and walked over to them and we all cheered!  A year ago, when I was there to be with Maria as she had her son - Joseph being in Afghanistan - Pat kept telling me what a bad time it was for me to be gone.  Today, a year later, it is a beehive of activity around here today!  They are taking the corn out around our house, so the combine, tractor and grain cart, trucks are all roaring around.   They are also starting to fence in the field so that the cows can be out on stalks as soon as the corn is out of the field.  The women including Ruth, Nancy and I picked almost a pail of tomatoes this morning and have done a small canning of 10 quarts of tomato juice in the midst of the 4 little ones playing and arguing underfoot.  John has been on the phone looking into a place to rent in Jackson, MN as he will be starting a job there in the beginning of Nov.  He is now out helping with the fencing project on a stunningly beautiful day!  I am seeing just how much I missed out on last year in El Paso, even the meals for all these people makes it kind of a full time job around here.  Yet, today is so big in my mind and heart as a year ago we were so hopefilled as we knew that Maria would be induced towards evening.  We were ready to hold this big boy, Patrick Joseph, after waiting almost 2 weeks over his due date.  His oldest sister, Therese, reminded him every morning that he was being a naughty boy, by making us wait for him!
The sights and sounds of fall harvest... I kind of missed them last year as I was a month in El Paso with Maria and her family.  So many deep emotions are filling me today, yet I feel that things are too crazy around here to really delve into them.  I also feel that I have shared the story numerous times already.  For anyone that hasn't heard the miraculous story of Patrick's being born dead after 20 minutes without oxygen in the womb, and then brought back to life and spending 2 1/2 weeks in NICU...  I did write a separate page about his journey to healing... http://familysoulstory.blogspot.com/p/the-story-of-little-lamb-grandson.html
Jesus, how I have held this day a year ago in my heart, and found great wonder at the healing that so many witnessed in our journey shared with so many prayer warriors!  The great blessings that supported us at our time of desperation and great fear for the welfare of our precious little Lamb, Patrick!  Your Church was there for us to fill us with all that we needed to find the strength and healing that we needed.  We thank you for the total healing of Patrick and how he is a healthy happy boy of yours.  Just as with John we know that you have wonderful plans for him, we, too, know that you hold Patrick in the palm of your hand and he is to be used by YOU.   This year has been one of great celebration called the healing of your little Lamb, Patrick.  Jesus, we trust in YOU.  Amen and Hallelujah
Patrick, your two cousins that are your age are looking for you to come and play with them standing up and not laying down like you all were in April!
Bless-bless, Barb
Happy Birthday Patrick!!!!   We love you!!!
God's not dead by Newsboys - the song that little Dave would sing all the time a year ago, and he would truly roar like a lion!  He told us this morning that he colored a picture of a Knight for Patrick's birthday... Grandpa told him that he should have drawn a picture of St Patrick chasing the snakes out of Ireland!
How we found a wonderful haven of Prayer and beauty in the midst of the storm at St Patrick's Cathedral just blocks from the hospital where Patrick was in NICU!  David, who has a strong sense of good and bad really took notice of this man, who chased the snakes out of Ireland - a real good guy!
