Lives overflowing with the spirit of Thanksgiving...

A grandma's dream - little 17 month old Rose walking around our beautiful church after mass absorbed by all the beauty around her and totally at home in her Church!  Nancy was saying at breakfast that going to mass on Saturday night just doesn't seem right to her and Sunday is less than it can be if she doesn't go to mass with her family.  "Dad, you made sure that we always went to mass as a family on Sunday morning, and that just is very much how Sunday should be for me now."  We usually go to the earliest mass offered, as that is what works best with farming.  The 5p Saturday night mass is usually a busy time for Pat on the farm.  It is so special to share family time at mass, and then due to the busy men Ruth had breakfast made at her house, so the 4 generations gathered there for the morning.  Sure enough the men were soon leaving for the field.
The 4 generations gathered around Ruth's table just before Pat had to leave.  Pat shared this amazing story of a prayer to St Anthony just now.  After he got out the field they were putting a part back into the combine.  They realized that a small part about the size of a dime had dropped out... it was very important but so tiny that their hearts dropped thinking that they would never find it out there amongst all the corn stalks and that the tractor store would never have it either.  Pat suggested they look in this one spot where they had taken it out of the tractor to start with - "I was praying to St Anthony as we looked, and there it was!"  Ed and Paul were amazed and said so, and Pat shared that he had been praying to St Anthony.  As Nancy said - a spiritual moment shared out in the field together for the men.  We all laughed and smiled at the picture it presented to us of this ahah moment shared by the men -  Pat spoke about how wonderful it is to have his faith to turn to in times of need.  So special!
Ruth grew some monster carrots this year, and that called for a photo op... Simon made his two into a cross, and grandma thought that was pretty great!  We are starting to pray for Nancy as she has just discovered that she is expecting another baby!  It is such a blessing to know of a new little one to pray for, and we do take that very seriously around here.
Jesus, we are so thankful for all your blessings!  Sunday is such a wonderful family day where we yearn to worship and come to YOU - consuming your Body and Blood in the Eucharist.  There is a spirit of Thanksgiving that makes us just glow with the JOY of your LOVE flowing in and around and through us at Mass.  Hearing your Word of LOVE and Mercy in Luke this day as you healed the 10 lepers!  May we recall the healing we are given with each day of our journey with YOU carrying our Most Cherished Cross and following after YOU.  May we come back and..."realizing he had been healed, returned, glorifying God in a loud voice; he fell at the feet of Jesus and thanked him."  Luke 17: 11-19  We first of all thank you Lord for the gift of LIFE we are blessed with, and are already surrounding this new little one with our LOVE and prayers without ceasing.  Jesus, we trust in YOU.  Amen and Hallelujah
Mary had mom clean her one of her yummy home grown carrots, and it was so sweet and great - filled with lots of what is good for us!
Bless-bless, Barb
Rose has been in this church every Sunday since she was born... it is her home away from home, and she finds great JOY here in the midst of Family and Faith!
Add the Farm piece and we have a totally wonderful LIFE for which we are eternally Thankful and Joyfilled!
Casting Crowns - Glorious Day
