Every Saturday is devoted to Our Lady, Holy Virgin Queen of Heaven and Earth! The Gospel today is very interesting and filled with powerful words from Jesus both to his disciples and to His Father in Heaven...Jesus "rejoiced in the Holy Spirit" and spoke to His Father with great excitement and JOY! So excited about sharing the Truth of The Kingdom of God and knowing the Father through the Son! Luke 10: 17-24 We can kind of know how this feels to be alive inside our hearts, minds, and souls as the Holy Spirit dwells within us and brings us to see Christ, His Most Cherished Cross in our lives, and the Path He has laid out before us! We need to always know that regardless of all that we do in and through HIM - "rejoice because your names are written in Heaven." Thanks to Our Lady, LIFE has entered the world and shown us the Truth, the Life and the Way to that LIFE carrying our Most Cherished Cross and following after HIM!
Reading last night in the Magnificat an article on purity in our children... God, Who Gives JOY to My Youth by Anthony Esolen
"We ere when we preach abstinence to lads and lasses, rather than purity, the full-blooded virtue that honors the beauty of the body by preserving its cleanness, its youth, for the marriage and the children to which its sexuality is ordained, if God so wills. No one can sing an anthem to a negative. But purity is not a negative: it is the glory of a flower. It radiates youth and health and a wise innocence; while impurity is old and enfeebled and 'knowing' and ignorant.
Then instead of telling our young people only what they must not do, we should assist them in the pursuit of purity. Here we might recall the essential youth of the Virgin Mary - 'the young maiden Mary.' We might also imagine meeting the youth Jesus in the Temple, his voice clear as a bell, his arms skinny and strong from his work beside his father - a youth indeed, with no trace of decrepitude of sin."
Our Lady certainly is a powerful example of the beauty of purity for all young as well as old!
Jesus, we are filled with so much wonder as the Spirit shows us your Truth in all that surrounds us. May we hold precious all that is good and fight valiantly to LOVE and serve you in all that we do, and say, and make, and unmake, and work, and in our times of relaxation, and write and speak - Be with us LORD always and everywhere! May we embrace all that is of YOU and raise LIGHTS for the world. Jesus, we trust in YOU. Amen and Hallelujah
Bless-bless, Barb
"The Church recommends to us saints with a special charism for the young. Such as the godly youth St Aloyisius Gonzaga:
St. Aloysius Gonzaga, Patron of Youth and Students
"O Saint Aloysius, adorned with angelical manners, although I am thy unworthy servant, I recommend to thee in an especial manner the chastity of my soul and body; I conjure thee, by thy angelical purity, to commend me to Jesus Christ, the spotless Lamb, and to His most holy Mother, the Virgin of virgins. Preserve me from every grievous sin; never suffer me to sully my soul with any impurity; whenever thou seest me in temptation or danger of sin, ward off from me every impure thought and affection, and awakening in me the remembrance of eternity and of Jesus crucified, imprint deeply in my heart the sentiment of the fear of God. Inflame me with divine love, in order that by imitating thee on earth, I may merit to enjoy God with thee in heaven. Amen. "
Our Father, Hail Mary.
Also pray to St Agnes to help us with purity!
John and I have watched Sister Act one and two in the last few days - Here is a great one for Our Lady! Salve Regina from Sister Act... enjoy! We sure did!
