A rare day...

After our typically dry fall and not much snow over the winter... it feels like a rare event to have a rainy day today.  We have gotten all the corn in the ground and quite a bit of the beans, so my farmer husband is OK with the rain.  As we always say... you never turn down rain around here.  Rose and Lilly were cute in the rain puddles.
Pat announced that he had identical twin girl calves born today... well, they are a bit different in their markings, and Rose was a bit standoffish...
She didn't want to sit down with them, so...
She would sit with mommy and look at them...
We also had a rare visit from an old friend, Ailene.  It has probably been about 4 years since she has been here on the farm.  It was good to share a meal and catch up with our city girl come to the farm/ranch.  She was a wonderful friend to John as he faced his brain cancer.  She got to meet Ruth's two newest kids and they liked her just fine.  Then she got to see Simon, Mary and David after school.  There is a funny story about her visit.  She went in to the rental place this morning to get her tiny economy car, and was told all they had left was a 15 passenger van.  Yes, she drove that down and back today... alone!  What fun when Ailene and John went in to pick up Simon, Mary and David in it from school today.  She partially filled it for a 4 mile ride home, and the kids thought it was a blast!
It was a rare day in many ways on the farm, but a day filled with many reminders that we are blessed with good friends, bountiful rains, and healthy new life...
Mary received her 3rd Holy Communion today... Every week at school and on Sunday she will be fed with the Food of Heaven and Earth.  May it always be cherished and desired by her.   Jesus, we trust in YOU.  Bless-bless, Barb
