Today is the feast of St Matthias - the Apostle chosen to fill the post left empty by Judas the betrayer. In order to fill this place - it had to be someone, who had witnessed all of Jesus' life here on earth and witnessed most of all His Resurrection from the dead! We too have this Truth to share with all those in our lives as we too have witnessed the Paschal Mystery at work in our lives... that we die with Christ so that He can live and work in us through The Holy Spirit! Don't you agree with me that one of the most amazing and dynamic and filled with such Apostolic zeal of all was St Paul? And he just like anyone of the followers of today never walked the earth with Jesus or witnessed any of his life from his baptism by John through his death and resurrection! Yet, his words from his many letters fill us with the Truth and Way and LIFE - Christ!
Borrowing pictures from Nancy today - the two granddaughters sharing from the same snack cup and also grandpa's lap at mass on Mother's Day! Many at mass tell Pat that they love to watch him with the little ones! He has always loved holding the little ones at mass and now with 2 or more daughters bringing their little ones - it is always full with many! The smiles and the joy that this shares with others there is a gift! Pat is in his own way sharing the Truth that LIFE is a gift to be open to and to cherish and to protect - that being open to family/LIFE is a path to a small slice of heaven here on earth... yes, there is the Cross in there too, but by embracing our Most Cherished Cross is how we find LIFE eternal. We have truly experienced Jesus and his resurrection in our lives and we long to proclaim this Truth to all those that have ears to hear!
How this one of Nancy's made me smile... I just had to borrow it! The next wave starting with Luke and next month Nancy's and in September will arrive Maria's - 3 boys/cousins will grow up together like these two along with Patrick are the 3 ahead of them. So blessed by LIFE/LOVE/LIGHT!
Today the Gospel is John 15..."As the Father loves me, so I love you. Remain in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love... I have told you this so that my joy might be in you and your joy might be complete. This is my commandment: love one another as I love you. No one has greater love than this, to lay down one's life for one's friends.... I command you: love one another."
Yes, with the crazy messed up world that is so anti-Catholic and against the morals and values of God... we might be called upon to lay down our lives in actuality. But for sure we are called to die to self each day for our family/domestic Church. WE no longer live but Christ lives within us! This is very hard to do, but it is truly where we can find all that matters in this world - the real LIFE/LOVE/LIGHT that comes to us through The Holy Spirit! We witness in our lives through the living Word of God - Christ alive and well and working in this world- that Jesus lives - resurrected from the dead and at work in us. May we carry that forth always and without hesitation as an Apostle living in this day.

Jesus, we are burning to share YOU with all those we meet! We are reminded that we see you in the poor in our midst. How blessed we were to just have a weekend with the poor in Kansas City! How they embrace all without judgment and we long to learn at their feet. Jesus, we trust in YOU. Amen and Hallelujah
