The final item given each girl of their habit was a 20 decade rosary that hangs on their belt and is always with them... you will often see them fingering the beads as they walk along or throughout their days. It is normally given them, along with everything else, by Little Sister Marie, but she handed them to Archbishop and he placed the rosary on the top of each pile and blessed them. Wow! So powerful as he also had a vestment with a beautiful image of Our Lady of Guadalupe on it. Obviously an Archbishop, who loves and prays to Our Lady each day.
Archbishop Naumann has a beautiful vestment with Our Lady of Guadalupe on it - another apparition of Our Lady that touched the world and millions of those from Central and South America came to Jesus through her! We are so blest to have The Mother of Heaven and earth come to us over and over and bring us to her Son and take our desperate intentions to Him. She always appears to the humble and lowly and many times poor and sickly children.
Little Sister Stephanie answering some questions of children present for the habit taking/mass - you can see her rosary at her side always.
"Receive this rosary, and may the Virgin Mary, the Mother of God, aid you to enter into the mysteries of her Son Jesus, she to whom are entrusted all the children of St Dominic. May Christ be fixed upon your hearts, he who was fixed to the Cross for all." The words of Little Sister Marie as the rosaries are placed on the pile of each girl... soon to be Little Sister _____.
8 year old granddaughter, Mary, came to Kansas City to witness this most amazing occasion. At times I thought she might have been too young to bring on this crazy weekend of time in the car- 7 hours on both ends and a full and glorious celebration with The Community of the Lamb in between.
My friend, Andrea, with her 7 year old daughter, Nell along with Mary in front of the Little Monastery - Lumen Christi - Light of Christ.
When I mentioned to Andrea that maybe the two girls were too young - "O no! This is something they will remember always!" So true!
At the beginning of second grade this year - Mary made this picture of herself and wrote these words! I think that Andrea is speaking the Truth! Mary is definitely considering the Life of a religious as a beautiful possibility for her life following Christ and asking Him to show her the path he desires her to follow! Such a wonderful possibility a Bride of Christ is!
Jesus, we are so blessed to have the lessons we receive though having our daughter a member of the Community of the Lamb! Our hearts are filled to bursting with your Way, your Truth and your LIFE! You are our Shepherd and we follow after You as we recognize YOU in the humble and poor. Jesus, we trust in YOU. Amen and Hallelujah
Bless-bless, Barbara Luke
"My sheep hear my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish. No one can take them out of my hand. My father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one can take them out of the Father's hand. The Father and I are one." John 10:22-30 The Gospel for today! We are yours, O Jesus. As John said in morning prayer petitions today - may you never leave me, Lord. More like may we never leave you, Lord. Keep us weak and humble and lowly - little!
Hallel's rosary about to presented to her in France in 2009 - it has been her daily companion since!
