"Holy Door." David

Maria just headed down the driveway to head to Great-grandma Ann's house, and then to Nancy's in the Cities for a late lunch, and then on to Wisconsin to Oma's house for a few days... then on to their new home in North Carolina!  Tomorrow morning she plans to visit my parents for a few hours, too.  She is determined not to leave the area without seeing family for some significant time to share and visit.  Therese was proud of me not crying as I kissed and blessed her goodbye, but then I had to hug my daughter with her 4 month old baby in her arms and all that changed.  I am tearing up just writing this now.  It has been a wonderful month shared closely with her family, and they will be sorely missed.  I look over to see the Battleship game out as though little Davey Joe will be returning to it shortly... the only type game we own.  He reported that he might like it for a gift from the ungifting grandma as he really enjoyed his time playing it.  Just like I left the sewing box out for a few weeks after Hallel used it to sew her name in her underwear and skirts before she left... I have a feeling that the battleship game and the coloring book and crayons here on the dining room table might be here for a few weeks, too.  Until the next big Sunday dinner anyways...I am flooded with sadness at the quiet I thought I was longing for around here.  Can't there be a happy medium?  Like maybe living 3 miles away and seeing them whenever I want?  No yet anyways!
This morning as mom was running around getting all the stuff packed in their car... I had the kids gather by the patio door.  "Why do you have us stand by the patio door, grandma?" asked David.  "Because Mary and Saint Francis are out there."  "Well, you should call it the Holy Door."  Said David, which filled me with great happiness at his way of always seeing the specialness and holiness in things!  Yes, sweet David, it will now be the holy door!
The best of the bunch... Mary Mother of Heaven and earth and Saint Francis are behind them, and go with them on their journey.  They are surrounded by Jesus and His Mother and the Communion of Saints!

"Know the Lord" from the first reading - Hebrews 8 - speaks to me of how we are led by the Spirit to know Jesus and to take him forth into our lives and domestic Church/family!  We have encountered him daily through his Word and Sacraments as well as the Saints, who intercede to him in heaven, and Mary with us and being our Spiritual Mother - taking us to her Son!

Kind of crazy but a cherished one of the sweet bunch of kids!

Therese does so much for her little brother!  She brings him down when he awakes in the morning or from a nap, she can change his diaper, and get him dressed, if he fusses she is there to hold and sooth him, he responds to her with loving eyes and smiles... he recognizes her love and care for him.
The last few days mom has made them herbal tea in the mornings... today our last tea party.
Patrick's big hands holding his wonderful tea!  He is so much like grandpa, Patrick, with name as well as large strong hands and build.  He loved his time with grandpa feeding the cows and calves buckled in his special seat in the tractor, and spending time out in the shop.  He also had some wonderful snuggles with grandpa ,when he would come down at night to sit on the couch by the woodstove and have special 2 year old snuggles in grandpa's big arms!   "We have to remember he is only 2." grandpa would say.
A closing family photo on the couch where Maria would share her faith each day with her children - "Circle time/religion time would include the readings for the day as well as the Saint, and instruction in some of the teachings of the Church.  Her children are being raised as LIGHTS!
Safe travels and wonderful visits give to them, O Lord!
My last time doing my Therese's hair as she drinks her tea.

Jesus, today in the Gospel you sent out the Apostles to do the mission of spreading the message and Truth of Jesus and His Bride, The Church!  May we, who know and love you go forth into our families/domestic Church and share with JOY the Way, The Truth and the LIFE - Jesus Christ!  Saint Paul wrote to the Christians in Corinth, The love of Christ overwhelms us at the thought that, if one has died for all, he died that all should no longer live for themselves, but for him who died and rose for them.  May we die more and more to self, so that your Spirit may work in us in ways of holiness.  I am inspired as I see my girls sharing their Faith with JOY in their domestic Church/family, and to see the LIGHT of Christ shining in their children.  May our homes be full of holy doors, holy windows, holy tables, holy beds, holy chairs, holy TVs, holy computers, holy books, holy games, holy time spent one with the other.  May all we are given be used for holiness and LIGHT/LIFE/LOVE for spreading the Truth far and wide.  May we share your Gospel of LIFE and when necessary use words/by the way that we live our lives.  Jesus, we trust in YOU.  Amen and Hallelujah
I think the kitties have sore ribs after the squeeze of Patrick... but they seem fine after all the attention.  Bless-bless, Barbara Luke

Not cool to turn away from the world and follow Jesus - do it anyway!
Bad idea to seek after a call to religious life rather than a big important job... do it anyway!
Third Day - your LOVE O Lord
I always think of Third Day as Joseph sings like him along with his wonderful guitar playing that we will miss!
Newboys - Born again
Peter Mayer - Holy now
My prayer for you this day!
David gently petting the kittens this morning - a keepsake for this sad lonely feeling that fills me at their leaving for who knows how long...
