The master of an old farmhouse...

Pat and I have acquired my parents antique maple bed with bed posts - it is a full size bed - not queen not king - double! My parents downsized and we bid on their furniture before they moved to the cabin in Michigan and came to Colman, SD for 3 years as Deacon/Administrator.  So this has been our bed for 20 years of our married life.   It is small but we are used to it and have only ever had a double bed over our 36 years.  It is interesting when grandkids come down in the morning to snuggle between us - we can manage one small one and then it gets to the stacking on top stage, and grandma usually crawls out of bed to prevent the uncomfortable feeling like I am going to fall out.
We have a small TV that plays VHS movies in it, and the grandkids gather on our bed to watch a movie and have some quiet time for them and for grandma.  Today Rose arrived and soon we had them filling our bed to watch Bug's LIFE together.  First we filled up the top.
Rose added Captain in her arms to the full bed, too!
Then Patrick joined and we had to add him on the bottom of the bed.  With legs in the right place they can share the blanket whether up or down.  The room is small, but big enough for us and as most farms in the old days - the master bedroom is downstairs just off the kitchen.  I really love to walk in and see the kids sharing some quiet time together... still eating apples that we grew on our good eating tree this year, and picked and kept in the fridge downstairs.
I didn't capture it with pictures but on this day I had all 8 kids crowded on the bed watching a movie together for a small window of time before the younger ones left.  Romeo is too young although he sat with Therese and I to watch a cooking show tonight and eventually fell asleep in John's arms.  Such a good and easy baby!

Grandma's bed gets lots of use on these cold winter days with a house full of family.  Warm and snuggly helps us come together sharing times of Family on the Farm.  Jesus, we trust in YOU.  Bless-bless, Barb
