Maria and Joseph have lived in Texas for over 3 years now, and their kids have been away from a winter on the prairie since David was 1 and Therese was 2 going on 3. So they have really never seen solid white out the window in their memories. Joe growing up in the wooded area in Wisconsin has not really seen zero visibility as we get here. Just as Maria and John were coming home from Cross Fit at noon it hit! Therese was very excited to be in the midst of "a storm!" We all looked out at the white world with amazement and prayed while eating our tomato soup that Maria and John would get home and not in the ditch... shortly they arrived safe and sound.
David described it as "smoke" and it truly did look like that, but I explained to him that it was snow blowing in the wind that looked like smoke. If you are wondering about my half stain glass windows - my mom found a bundle of them at a second hand store and I was willing to take these two halves rather than throw them.
It will be interesting what the morning will bring... probably late school and grandpa busy cleaning out the driveway here and at Paul's. Ruth and Paul are off on their national competition in San Diego - flying out in the morning and drove up to the Cities through the storm this afternoon. They saw many accidents along the way. Lord, protect all those that have to travel in this dangerous weather. Go with Ruth and Paul and use them to your honor and glory. Jesus, we trust in YOU. Bless-bless, Barb
