A tribute to farmers - St Isidore a day late..."God is king of all the earth" Psalm 47

An early spring morning with grandson, David, watching and following him... Pat is greasing the digger for Paul.  I am amazed each day with all that the farmers need to know and accomplish.  I also see that they are very dependent on Mother Nature for all they do.  This leads to constant state of prayer for the rains, or for them to stop, or for sick calves or for so many things.  When Pat and I pray together each morning before rising - the farm is always foremost on his mind and heart.  He has so much to take care of, so that is very understandable.
Calving out almost 150 calves is hugely demanding and hard, but both of our farmers love livestock and rise to the challenges.  Now the rains are coming for the grass in the pastures, the water in the creeks for them to drink, and the watering of the crops that are starting to emerge.  So much depends on warm rains to bring forth the crops to feed the world!  Lots of prayer goes into those rains, and after the drought over the last year... this rain certainly is an answer to so many prayers!
Long and hard hours of work are needed, and it is never ending when you are caring for so much, but we love our life of Faith/Family/Farm which brings us together through work.  It certainly helps to start each day with prayer and carry that forth with us throughout each day.  Today the Psalm from mass - 47 reminds us of where it is all at - For the Lord, the Most High, the awesome, is the great king over all the earth.  Yes, we know that we have no control over the earth's weather, and we turn to God in prayer knowing of our needs and those of the animals and crops we are in charge of protecting and caring for!
The look of a healthy newborn calf gives the heart great JOY!  It sounds like a psalm because it is!!
Yes, I am called upon from time to time, and watch with awe at all that he has to figure out and physically do!  St Isidore is a special patron saint to have with him shoulder to shoulder!

Jesus, thank you for the rains, and thank you for the wonderful close family life we are blessed with on the farm.  Keep all farmers and their families safe, and sane.  Go with me today as I serve those in the nursing home.  Jesus, we trust in you.  Amen and Hallelujah
Grandpa is constantly teaching the little ones and answering their questions and sharing his love for the farm with them... how he loves the little ones and their interest in the farm.  We are constantly watching out for them, asking their guardian angels to watch over them, and safely sharing farm life with them.  It is wonderful to see how our daughters love and appreciate the life they have on the farm!
God is king of all the earth!  Hallelujah!  Psalm 47
