St Joseph holding a Rose

Holding the first apple blossoms of the spring beside Buster the calf is our 3 year old Rose Ida.  Today is her 3rd birthday and so with the first sign of blossoms and a nice day we had a photo shoot yesterday to begin the celebration!  Rose talks about a kitty birthday with a kitty cake and presents...
Her world is filled with kitties as she has a basket filled with 6 baby kitties and their mom, Cookie, in her bedroom.  Each day the kittens get more awake with their eyes open taking in the new world around them and stronger lifting their bellies up off the ground and walking more and more upright.  Soon they are so entertaining as they play together and lick themselves just like big cats.  Rose used to pick them up by whatever she could grab, but now she is very gentle and loving towards them.  Just like the kittens... our 3 year old Rose has become more grown up and just like her mom and older sister, Mary, she is an animal lover.  It is so interesting to see her grow up into a very smart and sweet young girl!

This day is not only May Day in which we start our month of May devoted to Mary, The Mother of God, but it is a feastday devoted to St Joseph, the worker.
Father Robert Barron's photo.
For all of us, who need to work to care for our families, feed the world, support our families, care for our homes inside and out, be the mom at home with the little ones... I think you see how I look at the world.  I feel that a mom at home is the best and that they certainly do work morning, noon, and night!  A mother's/woman's work is never done!  Yes, our husbands work to provide for us and we appreciate that, but we must find value and worth in caring for our homes and instilling the Faith in our children.  Open to LIFE and raising LIGHTS for the world!
Rose, I hope and pray that you will always hold your Faith in Jesus and His Bride, The Church close to your heart.  I pray that the Saints will always be close with you as you journey down the narrow path of LIFE/LOVE/LIGHT, and know that just as St Joseph worked hard for his The Son of God and taught him how to be a hard working man... so St Joseph will always be there to hold you and guide you as you persevere against all obstacles.

 Growing up so special!
Grandma had to get her and Bernadette some Tu-tu swim suits... in a week the two will be together and what fun that will be!  Happy Birthday, Rose Ida!
"Who's that?"  asks Rose of my garden angel

Jesus, today in the Gospel those words that show us how to look for you and follow you in our lives - I am the way and the truth and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through me.  John 14:6  How we are rejoicing at the Good News and find HOPE eternal that we can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me!  May we humbly turn to you in all that we face each day, and work hard thankfully and willingly to make a good holy and safe and warm and loving and forgiving and willing and caring and a faith filled home centered on The Word, on Prayer, on The Saints as they walk with us, hold us, intercede for us, model for us how we are to persevere no matter the cost or the Cross that comes to us in each day of our lives... for You, Jesus, are the narrow Way, The Truth revealed to us by the Holy Spirit dwelling within us, and The LIFE everlasting that we can experience in our domestic Church/family/home, and on to eternity.  Jesus, we trust in you.  Amen and Hallelujah
Watching her mom drive the tractor home from the field - "Mommy?"  Learning to be a farm girl from one of the best!
Bless-bless, Barbara Luke
Had to get some dressed up, too...
Bales and cows and calves and an Easter dress... must be a farm girl is turning 3!
 Apple blossoms on the hill...
Black and white with the black and white calf...
Dancing - actually she thought the corn stalk bales were itchy and scratchy...
The thoughtful brown eyed look melts grandma!
Rose knows that the big cows need to be on the other side of the fence - Baby with her calf, Buster, with Rose and apple blossoms.  Happy Birthday, Rose Ida!  We love you, and know that you are going to be a beautiful rosey zesty light for all the world!

We are all called to be Saints- excited to see you strive for this in your life, Rose!
Cousin/Sisters, Rose and Bernadette comparing dresses on Easter morn...
Chasing and giggling around the monastery on Easter morning...
 Now alike thanks to grandma.
How my heart sings when I can dress my little girls the same just as I did with my 4 girls!  This morning Nancy facetimed her God daughter, Rose, to wish her a happy birthday.  "Bernadette was shy and star- struck at seeing Rose, who she talks about 24/7.  Finally she warmed up and they talked about Rosie's kitty birthday today."  So sweet to have these two in the midst of all the boys - they are surrounded by 8 boys and only have Mary and Therese to join them on the girl side!   Who would have known after our 4 girls and one boy... life is interesting and fun and great and joyfilled and the BEST - LIFE is a gift!
