Look who is here for the morning... There is much pulling at me today! Ruth and Paul have a big push getting ready for a film crew to arrive at 10:30 tomorrow morning. Can you imagine how much work that would require? Ruth just sent me a picture of her garden all cleaned out... her tomatoes were done , so she had to pull them up and the vines that were all over the place with pumpkins and squash. For her to dig in I have her youngest 3... yes, on top of all of this both David and Mary are sick home with bad colds!
The cement trucks are rolling though the yard pouring our footings for our new shop today!
The big thing we are awaiting is our new grandson born in Texas! We got word early that Maria has been postponed for later... so the waiting begins. I have candle lit, and just got an update... the earliest will be 4:30p and she won't know for sure until 3p this afternoon. One thing we have learned with the is that you need to learn to be patient.

Today is a very special feast day devoted to St Peter Claver... we were all touched by his story as we read it in the Magnificat this morning. How he went into the folds of the slave ships and ministered to them - "he instructed and baptized over 300,000 slaves!" He was the hands of Christ just as in the Gospel today so many wanted to touch or be touched by Jesus... God made man! Why? "A great crowd... came to hear him and to be healed of their diseases; and even those tormented by unclean spirits were cured. Everyone in the crowd sought to touch him because power came forth from him and healed them all." Luke 6:19
Luke in his cookie monster sweatshirt playing with the best toy we own - the chalice and the hosts in the plate! We bid on them at a Hospice silent auction years ago and they have been played with by most all of our grandkids since. Today Luke found them special and fun. Reminders of how we are helped to become His hand and feet - by receiving Christ in His Body and Blood weekly or daily!
Knowing of all the ways we are called to use our human hands as Christ used his... we are called to use them to serve those in our midst - our domestic Church/family. Realizing how many ways we do this on a daily basis by helping, teaching, caring, working... and in these ways healing and casting out as Our Lord modeled for us!
"Slave of the Slaves, St Peter Claver, pray for us as we go forth to love and to serve without counting the cost as you did with those slaves in "physical captivity, but his tireless love spoke a healing word to their dreadful sense of isolation, abandonment and helplessness." There are so many in our world that continue to be in similar captivity/slaves to addictions like porn, alcohol, and darkness of many kinds and forms. May we also carry forth the "tireless love" into our world.
Rose in her Elmo sweatshirt and matching beads... this has been so interrupted by numerous things today... texts, demands of little ones from feeding, diaper changing, potty training, out to watch the cement trucks and workers at work, emails, doing wash, praying and praying and being distracted by this cute thing, water coloring, answering the phone... sigh... I need to wrap this up once and for all!
Jesus, such a powerful reminder of how we are called to be your hands and serve all those in our lives with a smile and forgiveness no matter what! St Peter is such a powerful man to touch 300,000 lives of those that knew nothing of Christ! May that work continue to this day and in our midst. "We must speak to them with our hands, before we try to speak to them with our lips." St Peter in regards to ministering to the slave ships. So true for us also! Jesus, we trust in YOU.
