Delightful beyond words to have little calm peaceful precious Romeo, in the midst of his family, smiling his first smile up at his mother with adoring eyes! I was so filled with JOY at this picture/happening in the midst of our busy morning - Maria getting ready to go for her MCCW directors meeting, Therese doing her homeschool, and the boys being boys... I had just confiscated their life-savers to make for more of a peaceful family picture. I am left to a peaceful house and the book I am reading and some preparation for the arrival of Joe's mother, Gail, from Wisconsin! We haven't seen each other for two years - since we gathered around Maria and Joseph to pray for our Patrick, who was in NICU for 2 1/2 weeks recovering from his traumatic birth! I am very excited to see her once again, and the celebrations will truly begin with Romeo's baptism in a few days!

I still have tears standing in my eyes after reading Kimberly's chapter in Beloved and Blessed on miscarriage. This is something I have shared with Maria - she has suffered two losses, and both times I was with her, and I have suffered 7. I have been told that I might possibly dwell on these losses a bit too much, so it was very good to read Kimberly Hahn writing the words that I have shared numerous times myself... She shares that Scott and she have named their 3 losses and when sharing about the losses with her sister-in-law, who has lost 8 of 15 pregnancies... her sister-in-law said. "It's like storing treasure in heaven." Exactly how I feel, and how can I ever forget that treasure? My 7 little ones there praying and watching over their mother on her journey limping through LIFE dragging my Most Cherished Cross! After reading St Pio's sharing of getting the stigmata and suffering from that time forward. This suffering in my life and that of many women just seems to be so special and powerful today!
So natural and so beautiful - teaching her daughter with her new son and miracle son sharing a tender moment!
Today in the Gospel Jesus tells us how we can become his family - "hear the Word of God and act on it." Luke 8:19-21 Reading this book in the midst of this wonderful week in Texas is reminding me afresh of the glorious Truths The Church safeguards and holds up for all Catholics to embrace the culture of LIFE... that the world may see the LIGHT in the midst of so much sin, death, and darkness! Lord, may we be your beacons set in the lighthouse on the stormy sea. Just as St Pio ministered to many in the confessional - may we lay our burdens at your feet and go forth to give without counting the cost.
So much LIGHT on so many levels - it is flooding my heart, mind and soul!
Jesus, I filled to overflowing with your LIGHT that radiates from the face of my new grandson, Romeo, and then from my daughter, who has answered with great JOY the call to bring LIFE into the world! No wonder little Romeo beams at his mother... he knows of her LOVE for him and that she gave him LIFE and promises to raise him as a LIGHT! He knows deep within that he has been given the miracle of LIFE and that he is truly a "miracle baby." Each baby should feel so loved and desired, but this world has become one in which babies must be planned and limited to fit into a certain small spot in the lives of their parents. May the example of these families filled with JOY at welcoming the LIFE God intended for them to have - change the world around them a little at a time. Lord, we embrace You in your Word and know that we find you there as well as in your Sacraments, and our domestic Church/family. Jesus, we trust in YOU. Amen and Hallelujah
