Light placed on a lamp stand for all to see

Sweet Romeo this morning was so peaceful and wide awake and seemed to be pondering how content and lucky he is to have so many that surround him with love with each moment of his life - today marks a week old!
Therese and her sweet new brother - how she holds him close and he gazes at her with contentment and LOVE!  The Gospel today is Luke 8 - the mention of the LIGHT we are all called to be as we are the lamp upon the lamp stand..."so that those who enter may see the light.  For there is nothing hidden that will not become visible , and nothing known that will not be known and come to LIGHT."
Patrick is told that he can touch his head/hair and feet, so he was really studying Romeo's unique long feet and finger toes...  This is a strong family hereditary trait that comes from my dad to me and many of my girls - most especially Maria - and now her little Romeo!  There is something so very special about the stamp of heredity that ties us all together - it fills us with wonder and awe at the gift of LIFE and the care that God takes with each one of us out of pure LOVE for his creation.  All the little ones we are blessed with gives us the call to raise them as LIGHTS for the world!
Taking very seriously the call to raise LIGHTS... Maria and Joseph truly do this with all that they do, say, teach, discipline, and share their lamp set upon the lamp stand for all to see.  In the army that is very needed and important!

Jesus, we are so blessed to have this reminder of our calling to rid ourselves of the sin and darkness as all will be made visible by the light... lay it all at your feet in the confessional and then filled with the LIGHT into all the cracks and crevices of our lives we can then give without counting the cost!  Give to those in our domestic Church/family putting our husbands first and then our children in all that we do each day.  I know that I need to work on this in my life, and now with my empty (?) nest that should be easier... why is it so hard?  Lord, change my heart and give me a heart to LOVE as you have shown us to.  May I carry/drag my Most Cherished Cross and follow after YOU down the narrow and winding path.  Jesus, I trust in you.  Amen and Hallelujah
The look of awe at all the loving siblings he has been given to share LIFE/LOVE/LIGHT!
Bless-bless, Barbara Luke the crazy Catholic feeling the need to go to confession and get a clean and fresh start down the path to LIFE eternal.  It is hard to do, but so important to up the brightness and wattage of our LIGHT!  Mine feels dim and dull at this point.

"When believers respond to the inner impulse to give themselves to others without expecting anything in return, they experience a profound interior satisfaction.... Strengthened by constant prayer, the baptized reveal the priority which they have given to God in their lives."  St John Paul II
A little side story for today... at breakfast yesterday Therese and David brought out their special rosaries made by my daughter/friend/light, Liz the rosary girl!  Therese's rosary is made of rose quartz and is named "Blessing"  So beautiful!  I could share with them the story of Liz in short form - her conversion and her love of Mary and the rosary - making hundreds of single decade rosaries and giving them away all over!  The many stories she has to share or going into surgery clutching their rosary beads, or construction workers accepting this special gift... her stories are legion!

Resting on top is the rosary of Patrick!  Given to Maria early in our pleading for the life and healing of her Patrick after a traumatic birth just about 2 years ago - Oct 9, 2012!  This rosary had the visible prayers on it with the mends... on it an older gentleman had prayed for his downs syndrome son, Patrick!
In the midst of the afternoon Patrick was walking around the house happily wearing his rosary!  Maria has no idea where he found the small white pouch, took it out and then places it around his neck!  The rosary prayed for another Patrick and then for him - He seems to sense that power of the prayers said on this well worn and loved string of beads!  I am deeply moved and touched by the spiritual moment this was for me... Patrick in his innocence has embraced a great Truth!
Touching the prayers...
After mass we found some beautiful pink roses from St Therese for her namesake.  "Grandma, do you love my Saint?"  "Yes, Therese, she is one of my favorites!"
St Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle.  Be our protection against the malice and snares of the devil.  May God rebuke him, we humbly pray.  And do you, O Prince of the heavenly host, by the Divine Power, thrust into hell Satan and all evil spirits that prowl about the world, seeking the ruin of souls.
Prayer of St Micael the Archangel
A LIGHT set upon the lamp stand... all LIFE is a precious gift to be protected and cherished from conception to a natural death!

Won't work today...
