"This is a very special day for our Mary." John at prayer/breakfast

Mary is such an important name for us... I have a sister, Mary, who died of lymphoma when she was 28. Pat has a sister, Mary, and we have a daughter, Maria, the Latin/Spanish/Italian version of Mary because there were Marys galore and we wanted a "Mary" too.  We now have a wonderful 8 year old granddaughter, Mary, who is named after her great-grandmother, Mary Lanoue.  Why is Mary so important and special to us?  I think you know my answer... the name of Our Lady is the best and most wonderful name ever for a woman to be named!  Today's feast day is just that - The Most Holy Name of Mary!  "Our Salvation begins when an archangel speaks the name of Mary..."  Wow!!!  That is a lot of importance and meaning in that one special name... MARY!
Last night before bed Mary led us in their family prayers, and that included a "Hail Mary."  How must it feel to pray this and be named Mary yourself?  There must at times be the realization that your parents wanted to share this specialness with you.  Hopefully this will be a deep calling that will go with Mary always - to bear Jesus to the world in all she does, says, and lives!
St Louis de Montfort wrote: "the salvation of each individual is bound up with the Hail Mary."  This prayer names the holy name of the Mother of God "brought to a dry and barren world the Fruit of LIFE.  It will cause the Word of God to take root in the soul and bring forth Jesus."

Mary brings us to her Son, Jesus Christ!
Our Mary is an animal lover, and has a very calm and peaceful way around her farm animals.  She is now a proud owner and carer for of a rabbit named, Beverly.  No, not Mary...

I was taken back to 5 years ago and our battle with John by the Gospel today about the splinter/beam in our eye!  But further than that I was reminded of the ways we are to examine our own issues and weaknesses and sinfulness and not be distracted by the short-comings of others.  So important and as often we forget.  Lord, help me to focus on my own sinfulness!
Mary... the Brave and Confident.  It just seems that Mary will make a big mark in this world and wear her special name well.

Psalm 84 from mass today is speaking for my heart of hearts!
My soul yearns and pines
for the courts of the Lord.
My heart and my flesh
cry out for the living God.
How lovely is your dwelling place, Lord, mighty God!

Even the sparrow finds a home,
and the swallow a nest
in which she puts her young-
Your altars, O Lord of hosts,
my king and my God!
How lovely is your dwelling place, Lord, mighty God!

Blessed they who dwell in your house!
continually they praise you.
Blessed the men whose strength you are!
their hearts are set upon the pilgrimage.
How lovely is your dwelling place, Lord, mighty God!

For a sun and a shield is the Lord God;
grace and glory he bestows;
The Lord withholds no good thing
from those who walk in sincerity.
How lovely is your dwelling place, Lord, might God!

I will say that I do sincerely try to walk in your path, O Lord, although I fail often!  And yes, I do drag my Most Cherished Cross down that path most of the time rather than put in on my shoulders and carry it!
"Jesus and Mary , I love you, save souls!"  Maria told me to pray this for all the needs that come with our huge extended family.  Place it in their hands, and TRUST!

Jesus and Mary, so much is filling me this day when I think about all the Marys in my life.  Each one is a shining beacon of how much this name means to us on this journey of LIFE/LOVE/LIGHT!  Each day Mary's name is filling me with hope, peace, and love as I pray my rosary, as I pray some "Hail Marys" in the midst of anxiety or frustrations, as I rest my head on the pillow at night... Always with me and helping me on the narrow path carrying/dragging my Most Cherished Cross/Tree of LIFE!  Bless all Marys this day and forward... may they realize that they are bearing this glorious name humbly to bring LIFE into their worlds.  We all are called to do that - as mothers..."When God sent his Son born of a woman, he instituted a once and for all order for salvation in which the union of Mother and Child stands at the center." Romanus Cessario  To accept the divine privilege of speaking the name of Mary is to participate in that saving union.  This does not leave out those that have not physically given birth!  As John prayed so powerfully at breakfast about his sister, Little Sister Hallel, "who brings LIFE into the world through her call and work." We all bear The Word made flesh to the world of darkness around us!  Jesus, we trust in YOU.  Amen and Hallelujah
Mary painting a beautiful and powerful watercolor of the seeds sown for her aunt Little Sister Hallel!
Bless-bless, Barbara Luke the crazy-Catholic who has a long way to go but call upon the name of Mary to assist me in my stumblings down the narrow path.

Since heaven is the first ever to pray the Hail Mary - when the angelic messenger communicated the intention of God himself - that invocation retains a permanent, incomparable role in the economy of salvation.  In fact, praying the Hail Mary, instructs St Louis de Montfort, will 'cause the Word of God to take root in the soul and bring forth Jesus, the Fruit of LIFE' just as it did in the womb of the Blessed Virgin."  Fr Peter John Cameron

"In dangers, in straits, in perplexity, call upon the name of Mary.  Let her name be always in your mouth and in your heart.  St Bernard
It is there, believe me, and I find so much peace and JOY!
Little Sister Mary?  She will consider the beauty of a call...
