A hard lesson to learn...

Little precious 2 year old Davey innocently shows grandma his dolly that he loves to carry around in his carrier and love...  He is learning at a young age to be a loving caring daddy!  Tonight I had a sad occurance in my 9th grade confirmation class.

Happy wonderful children are a gift of marriage and being open to family... that results from the love of a man and a woman!

I divided my kids up into two groups tonight and asked them to make a list of things that they believed in...  After a few minutes they shared what they had each come up with... the second group was saying things like God and Jesus and against abortion..."and we believe in gay marriage!"  They loudly and proudly proclaimed.

Mary is 4 and loves to dress up in mommy's shoes... talks about being a princess for Halloween!

I was taken aback... as of right now there is a huge effort by the archbishop to inform all the Catholics about the stand of the Catholic Church to uphold the value of the marriage of one man to one woman!  A video has been made and sent out to every person in Minnesota that is a registered Catholic, and to know that these 9th graders are voicing this is a sign to me that it is s topic in their homes, and that they are speaking as they have heard their parents say what they believe!
With only minutes to address this... as they loudly proclaimed that they respected these people and they had as much a right to marry... I quickly begged them to at least google - Teachings of the Catholic Church - gay marriage... and read with an open mind what our amazing Catholic Church has to say about this..."We do not as Catholics have the luxury of picking and choosing what we believe or not.  The Church has put much prayer and time and energy into what they teach us... we are to follow its teachings as the truth, and trust me they have our better interest and getting to heaven at heart!"  I told them that there is not such a thing as a shopping cart Catholic that picks and chooses what they want to believe! For gay marriage to become legal would be damaging to our society and our Church and our children... and try mightily to destroy the sanctity of marriage and family!
Lord, How hard some of these issues are to understand... yet the truth is there to set us free and to give us fullness and rightness in our lives. Protect our country from this lie that hurts families and children!  Jesus we trust in you!  Amen and Halleluia!

Bless-bless, Barb
