Maria is back for breakfast after spending the night at the hospital to nurse Patrick throughout the night. He slept the night, and they brought her to him every 3 hours to eat. The nurse was Rachael, who was there putting the many machines on him the first night he was admitted just hours after birth - putting the "cool cap" on him and many other lines and wires. She told Maria; "I have worked here since before they started the cool cap, and I have seen amazing things since they started that." She told Maria how great he looks now, and I know without a doubt that she is truly speaking as one that worked with him from the brink of death to now glowing with health! His neck and shoulders are a bit weak, after laying in the crib for a week and a half, so a physical therapist will be coming in this morning to show them some exercises to do with him here at home. The talk is that he will be coming home tomorrow - as they are increasing his seizure meds and want to watch him for 2 days on that dose. The increase we think is due to the EEG, but we are trying to understand this as much as we can. I am hoping to get to see him today in his lowest level of ICU, but in the meantime I am considering flying home soon depending on how grandpa Patrick's checkup goes this afternoon with the ortho doctor. He has an infection in his right knee that is laying him low. I am a bit wanting to get home and nurse him now too! Just have to wait and see and trust. "The Lord is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts. I was helped my heart rejoices and I praise him with my song." Psalm 28:6-9
