Hi all. there seems to be a theme today from a phone conversation and a sharing with Joseph and his mother here this morning. The talk is about how we are called upon to protect our children from bad influences, and how much of a challenge it is with all the insidious communications that surround us in this day and age! A small child with an iPod and all that is available to him that would not be good. The fact that Joe and Maria do not have TV in their home is at some times hard for these old grandmas with the lack of news at supper time especially, but so good not to have all of that noise and distraction going on throughout the day! The Spiritual conversations that goes on often in this home is always a delight to this old woman! There are many distractions going on around me today. I am back to reading Story of a Soul by St Therese, and I had to laugh as she described how it truly was for her as she was trying to put down her thoughts in her weak an sick state... "I take care to appear happy and especially to be so. For example, here is a hay worker who is just leaving me after having said very compassionately: 'Poor little Sister, it must tire you out writing like that all day long.' 'Don't worry,' I answer,' I appear to be writing very much, but really I am writing almost nothing.' 'Very good!' she says,' but just the same, but I am very happy we are doing the haying since this always distracts you a little.' In fact, it is such a great distraction for me that I am not telling any lies when I say that I am writing practically nothing." It just makes all of her pearls she shared that much more beautiful and big and lovely beyond measure! True gems!!!!
I am joined with St Therese today as there is much activity and talk all around me!
Maria was off early today and hopes to spend the whole day with Patrick feeding him, as the two of them have proved is doing wonderful for the two of them! She now has the lactating nurse on her side to help her inform the doctors of how well our little Lamb, Patrick is doing. I am praying for my big husband, Patrick, now as he is in to have a sore swollen knee looked at... Lord, he is in your hands!
So much fun to have have a little girl to do her hair each morning! I have so much fun having that "job of JOY" of a little girl's hair... after having 4 little girls and doing their hair down the row every morning... this is a GIFT! Maria is back for lunch and has been given the go ahead to feed him throughout the day and night! Last night Maria and Joseph went in and were able to give him his first bath, and heard him cry for the first time. "He doesn't get worked up, but he does have vocal cords." Then he fed really well! How we long to get him home, but yet we appreciate that they are being careful with him. Jesus, we are truly being taught patience through this journey with Patrick. Help us to Trust and know that you are truly in control. May our homes be a place of safety and refuge for the little ones that have been put in our charge. May the crosses they bear - even 20 minutes before they enter the world - bring them ever closer to YOU. Jesus, we trust in you. Amen and Halleluia
