Maria and Patrick -"We both made it!"

Maria gave me permission to put some pictures of her precious new son, Patrick Joseph, here so that you all can know that he is stable and in need of your prayers.  Maria's delivery went terribly wrong at about 10:30p last night.  Patrick's pulse dropped, and we discovered that Maria's uterus had ruptured and Patrick was without oxygen for a while.  He is now breathing and his heart is beating on their own... there is some concern of brain damage, so he was transferred to another hospital across town where there is a wonderful NICU!  I traveled there with him in the ambulance, and Maria was still in surgery when I left.  She is rejoicing that they saved her uterus, but she is in need of prayers also.  She is now in SICU across town from her son, and is striving to get transferred there today.  She has yet to see him or touch him.  I baptized him in the middle of the NICU surrounded by nurses and tiny babies all around me at 1:15a this morning.  He is 9lb and 1 oz, and is 22 inches long - he was born at 10:40p, so they did really good getting him out quickly, and they continue to work on getting him well! He is in critical condition, and has a cooling cap on his head to promote healing and lessen damage to his brain.  Pray with us that his brain may recover.  Our little Patrick has certainly embraced his cross from the first moments of LIFE, but as Hallel said in France when we called her shaken and fearful - "Rejoice!  There is a new LIFE in the world."  Hearing that gave me courage to sit at his side throughout the night praying and touching his beautiful leg to let him know that grandma was there and that we LOVE him!
Maria hopeful and trusting a few hours before the rupture... As she said this morning to this pile of emotions after I took a taxi to be with her, and show her a picture of her son for the first time...  "We both made it mom!"  Yes, Lord, we are so filled with gratitude at the way that you held Maria and Patrick in the palm of your hand.   Continue to heal them and may they soon be united - mother and child!  Bring Joe home to be with them and unite them as a family at this difficult time.  Jesus, we trust in you.  Amen and Halleluia
Bless-bless, Barb
